Is Marner missing being a Maple Leaf?

Bryan Hayes, Jeff O’Neill and Jamie McLennan discuss whether or not Mitch Marner is better suited playing centre or on the wing and the difference in the way he lives his life in Las Vegas over Toronto.

  1. He might miss some things about Toronto and maybe playing with matthews but he's definitely NOT missing playing for the team and mlse. He's very happy in Vegas.

  2. What is it about these guys skull shapes that they’re incapable of any consistent thinking? Marner has always been a “can play any position” guy. He plays a defensive style of hockey. He is not a fucking play driver lol. He’s a play saver. That kind of tends to be what you want out of a depth center. You guys are just desperate to talk about him more lol.

  3. Sounds like some coping going on. I’m sure he misses his hometown but as far as hockey he’s glad to be in Vegas. And the media definitely drove out Marner.

  4. Trying to rewrite history Marner leaving is funny af
I'm sure it had nothing to do with car jacking attempt and needing police outside his home
    🤡

  5. I imagine players wives all get together and as long as Marners wife is that type of woman, then theres no issue. If she was a family heavy then might be hard having parents in Ontario

  6. No O, it was definitely the media that drove Mitch out of town…now if you could just work your magic on Rielly.

  7. Or you have “media” like steve dangle who are stupid extreme both ways… end of the world losses and calling avs frauds because the leafs lucked one out…

  8. I'm sure he misses being blamed for everything, needing to hire security for his family, getting his car stolen, the high taxes, your idiot mayor. I bet he misses u so much

  9. I wouldn't describe Marner as "dominating".. He's on pace for 18 goals 😂😂😂😂😂 What do you have to say about that Paul?

  10. Such a Toronto take on the Marner situation.
Yeah sure, Marner really misses having his & his family's lives threatened… Believe me, he is 100% happy to be out of town.

O'dawg, can you really be that naive? The Toronto media roasted Marner constantly about his salary dispute because he didn't give into a "Homeboy Toronto discount" salary agreement. They called him greedy & turned the fans against him. Then they blamed him & made him the whipping boy for Toronto's playoff losses. It must have been hell for Marner to put up with that garbage on a daily basis & can you imagine what ignorant fans were yelling at him in public because of that publicly? They & you are indirectly responsible for the threats to their lives, so I get why you are trying to deny that the media & fans drove him out of town; but sorry, you absolutely did!!!

The Toronto media & fans were doing the exact same thing to another Home town star, R.J. Barrett. They spent the whole off season hammering him, with constant trade rumours saying that he was a terrible fit for the Raptors & many of the fans bought into it & repeated that garbage. Forget the fact that he led the team in points. I loved that he got off to an even better start this season, showing that he's a perfect fit for his team & the team struggled terribly when he was out injured.

Oh BTW, Centres have to have a great 2-way game. Marner was the best 2-way player on the Leafs team by far. Centres have to be able to distribute the puck well. Again, Marner was the best puck distributor on the Leafs team by far. Marner has been getting better & better with Vegas this season & he is starting to get chemistry with the other players & they are starting to acknowledge him as the PP quarterback. He looks pretty damn happy to me!!!

  11. Of course, Marner's social media bots are all over this comment section. He literally pays a social media PR firm to blast every YT video he's talked about in. Most toxic player of all time!

  12. Fix the title.

It’s understandable, but it’s a bit awkward grammatically in standard English.

    More natural options would be:
    • “Does Marner miss being a Leaf?” ✅ (most natural)
    • “Is Marner missing his time as a Leaf?”
    • “Is Marner missing life as a Leaf?”

Your original sentence mixes present continuous (“is missing”) with a general state or feeling, which in English is usually expressed with the simple present (“miss”).

So while people might say it casually, “Does Marner miss being a Leaf?” is the grammatically clean choice.

  13. Vegas has 3 more points than Toronto and the leafs were playing preseason hockey for 2 months. Didnt even know a solid line, injuries, rookies, playing in the East… Go Leafs Go!

  14. I am so happy Marner is out of Toronto and here in Las Vegas: mild winter weather, lower taxes, a sane fan base, and a great hockey organization with a cup in hand.

  15. Only leaf fans and media could focus on the fact that Marner is going to play center. What's wrong with testing him out there and why are these guys so negative about it? Maybe Vegas is trying to figure out the best combinations regardless of stats so that they can win another cup. You know that thing that the leafs have not come even close to winning since 1967? Vegas is focusses on winning. They have been to two Stanley Cup finals in five years and won once and you win by having the best team not by feeding a goal suck so that he can score 70 goals like the least did a couple of years ago. That was absolutely insane. Took everyone else out of the offensive flow so they could focus on feeding Matthews who is incapable of generating his own offense, sit on that for a bit and then ask yourself why Vegas might try to figure out the way to have the best combinations possible.

  16. the playoffs drove Marner out of town.
you can only disappear so many times (excluding Matthews, he has been ghosting the playoffs for 9 years)

  17. Now that's the stupid question I ever heard. You clowns suck leafs suck and ur show sucks I would flush u turds get some real story

  18. It is hard to play in Toronto because the leafs never win the big one and paying these players to much money NMC have to go the leafs will never win sorry

  19. You have to ask yourselves would you miss playing in a city were you & your family were being harrased and threatened?

  20. Nobody misses being a Leaf. He's paid good money to be on a winning team where as soon as he walks out of the arena he's a regular guy and doesn't have to worry about anyone trying to talk to him or harass him.

  21. yea im sure he missed a place that sent death threats to his wife and newborn lol. come back to this in the playoffs when leafs get their annual slapping in the first round
