Its funny how they keep saying there aren't any goalies but no other teams seem to have that problem..
Goalie. Freddie gotta go. He is cooked. He 36 and miss most of 3 of the last 4 years. He ain't turning that clock back. Bussi is good but we need another playoff caliber guy. That way if Bussi keep developing we are good and if injury happens we are good. We have so many of these key players locked up long term that I'm not too worried about losing prospects. Get it done Tulsky.
Since their hot start in October the Canes have been little more than an over-rated .500 hockey team. Their blueline is replete with offensive minded D-Men none of whom have been stout & consistently strong in their own end. Meanwhile Slavin hasn't played like Slavin since 2024. Team D has been shaky due to poor passing in all three zones which has resulted in a slew of odd man rushes, breakaways, & high danger scoring opportunities for the opposition. Their PK has been mediocre at best & their PP has only just recently improved. KK & Freddie need to disappear from the roster as they're a drag on the locker room & yesterdays news. I suspect that Pyotr Kotchetkov has played his last game in a Hurricanes uniform & he's never been a reliable playoff performer anyway even when healthy. 1) Team needs a healthy D focused stopper with size & physicality like LeGault (or a RHD) to return to the line-up. 2) a top six Center with scoring prowess & a brutally nasty on-ice disposition, & 3) an experienced & reliable 2G not named Andersen or Kotchetkov. 4) I also tend to believe that guys like Staal & Martinook are going to be running on fumes by the time the postseason rolls around & will be match-up liabilities vs. the elite teams. 5) I'm also unconvinced that non-physical & passive Mark Jankowski is a reliable playoff performer at 4G but perhaps Philp's can remedy that if he's healthy? No Metro team has beaten an Atlantic team in the ECFs since the 2018 when the Caps won the Cup. There are at least four teams in the Atlantic Division & five in the Western Conference that are currently better than the Canes so the roster needs help. If I were to rank the NHL GM's Eric Tulsky would not make the top 25 & I have no confidence that he'll accomplish anything impactful by 3PM on March 6. In any of the major markets he would have been canned last offseason after the Necas / Drury trade & the ensuing Rantanen debacle. How you come away from that situation with only a 163 lbs tiny-tot 2C wannabe and a couple late round draft picks is lost in me? Lame, unforgivable, & unacceptable.
