Somehow I saw this before I saw the Colofraudo LFR. I didn’t get to enjoy it. Your Colofraudo soup was left out a little too long and it got spoilered. 😢
Can't win them all. This is a game you flush and prepare for the game against Vegas.
Leafs are going to be the dominant team in Vegas and win convincingly, everyone's going to feel great for the next week leading up into the second game, where the Leafs get shelled and lost 6-1 on home ice against Vegas.
Basically what happened during games 5-6-7 against Florida in the playoffs last year. It's the Leaf way.
Rielly having the second worst statistical game of the year by hockeystatscards only slighty beating Mailloux. Should probably be mentioned and not totally forgotten about tbh
I really don't care about the Marner stuff, maybe a little at the beginning of the season, but now it is not even an after thought. They will probably all go to dinner and hang out. Maybe a lesser known will knock him around a bit, but not expecting much. Would like them to win to stay in the playoffs still.

My thoughts? The NHL is incredibly stupid. Like a field mouse would run things better.
Picture this. Winter Classic. Leafs vs Vegas. Outdoors at BMO field. The 'grudge' match if you will. It would be probably the most watched NHL broadcast (outside of the cup final) in history. Leaf haters, Leaf fans all gathering together to watch this. Epic.
Further. 10:00 EST start in Colorado was stupid. Same as Utah. Both teams are mountain time. Why start them at 8:00 pm locally? Why not start them at 7:00 like 90% of the games are. Why in the loving fuck is the Vegas game on Friday night? Again…incredibly stupid.
In short, the NHL brass may be the dumbest, most dense, most pathetic group in the history of sport. Fuck those guys.

Look, I hate to make excuses for the boys but those 10 games with points earned them some leeway.
You forget it isn’t just a back to back. It is a back to back with travel. They got to Salt Lake at 2AM local time. They are jetlegged as hell because FYI, that game started at 10pm Toronto time. Then you consider they just went to overtime playing their hearts out to beat the league leading Colorado team that has only lost 2 games at home all season, and don’t forget that altitude drain is a documented thing for athletes playing in Denver at 5200 feet elevation, and SLC isn’t that much better. And they are playing against a team that’s rested, who got to sleep in their own beds, and who are ready to go.
This is a case of “they didn’t have anything left in the tank to use”. It wasn’t a lack of trying, it was a fact they just couldn’t do any more. And the crazy thing, they didn’t even look that bad till the third. We had some great looks in the first that didn’t get buried. One or two of those go in, you get a momentum shift and we maybe have that one too.
I’m with Steve and Berube. Flush it, burn the tape, rest up and get back on the wagon in Vegas.
carlo and reilly both looked unplayable – and the fact that they were played together for a lot of game was crazy

i think it doesn't matter. what i do think is marner will win a stanley cup before the maple leafs do. thats basically a given
Bout time we got back to our regularly scheduled Leaf programming. I was getting worried about my favorite soap opera, with all that winning going on. Looks like it's "sweeps" time a little early this year. A little Marner drama to shake everything up. Can't wait. Get em Mitch! Oh wait, that means you're dragging that loser Eichel along with you. Well, I guess either way I'll be happy.

Haha for all of the teams that have back to backs doing a Midwest/Central road trip (which is a gauntlet, in itself)… Every team is like… If you play Utah & Colorado especially on a b2b, depending on the schedule… If you play Utah first, then Colorado… You have to at least win the first one & vice versa. So I think it's pretty much the same for the Leafs. You're not winning them all, but still play. Surprisingly when my team did that roadtrip last month… We did pretty good. Considering we had to play Utah, Colorado, Dallas, Carolina & then Tampa 😱😱😱
Didn't win the Colorado one, after the previous night was Utah & won. But… We won at Dallas, Carolina & then Tampa. So 4 of the 5 road games… That's a successful road trip.
