John Beecher not only suckerpunch on McCarron and more – Tough Call Recommendarion

John Beecher got involved with Michael McCarron and ended up suckerpunching him while the linesperson had McCarron wrapped up. It was a greasy move that endangered everyone involved, including the officials.

  1. I agree with the first half of your argument but the NHL has consistently ignored the second half for years. We see officials get tossed around and have punches thrown around their heads and bodies on a nightly basis. This is a very selective example by you — and one I would cite as less dangerous for the officials than anytime when both participants are actively agitating the fight.

  2. If the refs are protected too much in these situations, then they will jump in and break up nearly every fight. They often put themselves in harm's way to break up the entertainment and/or justice being served. In this particular situation, the refs didn't seem to be in much harm. I would suspend Beecher three games for the cheap shot. That wasn't just an attempt, that was a solid punch.

  3. How do you view McCarron behavior trying to egg everyone on and skating by the bench antagonizing the entire Calgary team. Unsportsmanship conduct? That sucker punch didn't happen in a vacuum and just for the hell of it and I don't buy McCarron being all bent out of shape for what looked like a slash (I dont' really think it was much , looked more like stick on stick to be honest).

  4. People commenting can cry all they like. He has a hearing for all the reasons listed in the video. Ya'll can stay mad, but you're wrong about it lmaoo

  5. Definitely weird gray areas with this and the Logan punch given fighting is technically illegal but not frowned upon and considered part of the game even by refs! Agree it did see over from an outsiders perspective, (just like the Logan one seemed to not have officially started), but I can see how both offenders could have an argument for the fight still being on.

Guess it’s just difficult to determine and makes for some (title card) TOUGH CALLS

  6. Coward move. I don't understand why so many people are acting like this and the Logan incident are okay because it was a heated moment (or in Brady's case, because he's a d-bag). You can't just flush a guy when the ref has already broken up or prevented the actual fight from starting.

  7. I’m not saying that it was okay to do this, and I’d be pissed if the roles were reversed. However, something that is becoming increasingly common, and frustrating, is players throwing hands then getting bailed out by the linesmen before the other player has a chance to throw back. You’ll see this happen with the Tkachuk brothers, Hagel, and a few other agitators. They’ll grab a guy, start throwing punches before the other player is squared up, then coward behind the linesmen.

Also, for whatever reason they never enforce this suspension when a player is on the ground, only when it’s over a linesmen…

  8. I may very well be wrong, but it wouldn’t surprise me if McCarron said something that ticked him off in that moment.

  9. Let's be honest though, that wasn't really a fight. McCarron dropped his gloves and immediately threw punches with no warning.

  10. I need Tough Call to take over player safety. If players got suspended like this with logic theyd stop a LOT of unnecessary violence.

  11. Under my system, someone gets to tune Beecher up and leave him bloody enough to miss the next 11 games due to his eyes being swelled shut.

  12. 1 game for the late punch. McCarron got in a few when Beecher wasn't ready. Let 'em go.

  13. What you don't know is what McCarron said to Beecher that brought on the Punch. Moral of the story is don't run your mouth while you are hiding behind officials, and you may not get punched.

  14. That isn't a sucker punch. Just a tap for the dirty punches McCarron threw. One punch is fair for all of the ones by McCarron. McCarron should have been suspended too if Beecher got one.
