This team is handcuffed and the only real solution would be another rebuild unfortunately, but fans might not want it and/or they may not have the appetite for it , but that is the truth. The former management as really screwed this team by emptying the cupboards of prospects and draft picks. The current management as made the error to sign a goaltender to a very expensive contract and didn't get a veteran backup in the summer. Leevi might be the future, but he needs more development in Belleville. All they currently can do is Band-Aid solutions, which is really bad. If they choose to go the rebuild route, I do not trust Staois to be the man for it. He needs to step down as GM and get a proven GM to bring in a new vision. Coaching is B and B – grade all over the place. I get Tkachuk is playing hurt, then why is he playing? He seems uninterested since he returned, looks more motivated by his podcast and saving himself for the Olympics (which he shouldn't be going if hurt). Will he ask for a trade at the end of the season? the haul can help us rebuild for sure. Ullmark is over paid, sure he as a Vezina, but undeserve this contract since he never did anything good in playoffs and no cup. He seems like he is pulling a Hasek on us (oh the PTSD). We are missing a Top 6 speedy scorer upfront, Missing a big D with a long reach and unafraid to hit and scramble and block shots. This team is missing a true identity, long gone the Pesky Sens. Really hard to watch the games this year.
