It’s probably because I’m an islanders fan but it’s kind of sad that the discussion was only about the devils because the islanders played a legitimately good game. Sorokin was unbelievable for a guy who hadn’t played in a while.
Imagine having a job where a couple people keep messing up bad, they are the highest paid workers and never get reprimanded. And all the other workers to get reprimanded for so much less…. This is the issue. I’m a lifelong devil fan since the 80s and I want the cancer bros off this team
As a season ticket member for a considerable amount of time, their scouting seems to suck. Alexander Holtz, Chase Stillman, Shakir all in the first round, some before Seth Jarvis and Lundell. And double standards when it comes to players. The booing is whatever. This is Jersey, not Connecticut. Every good Jersey kid grew up being chastised to be better non stop by friends, family, and their pastor. Meanwhile it’s one of the richest and smartest states in America. As Keefe said, he’s looking for players with balls.
Devils fan here. The issues with this team start at the top and trickle down from there (Fitzgerald). I've wanted him to be canned since the 2023-2024 season where he sat on his hands too long to get a goalie until the trade deadline. Then he did the same thing last year to look for any sort of depth scoring and we traded a pick for a guy who just cleared waivers a month before. Now we can't even get any needs addressed because we're over the cap and can't reactivate our full team once fully healthy off LTIR and because more than half of the team can't be moved. Our "veterans" who chose to sign here to 'win' (Dougie, Palat) do not seem to be providing any value on or off the ice for this team, so those two on their own are a $15M black hole. They aren't benched despite lackadaisical play and in Dougie's case, no way of knowing for sure, but he seems like a guy who is checked out because he was asked to waive his NTC, rejected the destination, and now is still here. I like a lot of our core guys, but I'd see what Mercer or Bratt can fetch just to shake things up since what we have isn't working. Palat shouldn't be skating above the 4th line and I'd just move Dougie even if you have to retain a little cap if you tried and failed to move him.
