Bruce Seldon vs Kevin Rooney protégé Tom Sandner

A look back at the heavyweight bout between Bruce Seldon and Tom Sandner

  1. Sandner is a guy who nowadays probably would have been recruited by an MMA gym or maybe even the WWE. But oh if only Iron Mike had kept Rooney in his corner. On another note, Seldon had all the talent, I just don't think his heart was ever fully in it. As always, thanks Rich.

  2. If you are short with short arms, you better fight aggressively or you have no chance of becoming a contender.

  3. Does anyone else remember Bruce Seldon's gimmick when he would jump up and down like a madman after getting knocked down?

  4. Seldon was on Tuesday night fights regularly, really thought he was going places with that jab he had ,along with quick combonations. Then he fought Oliver Mcall and lost in a bad way.

  5. It's clear that when Sander managed to get inside he would fiddle around for a few seconds but just didn't know what to do once he got there and would retreat in a straight line.

  6. I know you're getting a lot of tug jobs from everyone in the comments, but you are the best boxing channel on the platform. You are a serious resource for those interested in the sport!

  7. I liked Seldon back in the day, he had potential and when he was confident he could be dangerous and could throw mean combinations as shown here but he was a little chinny and when he felt power that was equal or more than his he would fold like a cheap chair. We know he threw that Tyson fight lol.

  8. Can't imagine what Kevin Rooney saw in Sandner…
After working with tyson and Cus plus other fighter's of quality you would think he could discern the difference 🤔… Sandner had a slight build similarity to tyson and that was where it ended

  9. Well put, dressed up vs groomed up, six years later Seldon lost to Tyson but by then he already had lost a couple to 1st class opposition.

  10. Expected worse and have seen worse. Sander at least MOVED like a pro boxer, unlike a guy like Ritchie Melito for instance. But a 5-9 hvyt with a 5-9 reach being successful is a needle in a haystack.

  11. So after the swelling went down did anyone figure out whether this was Rooney tryin to get a payck or was it the kids ego & he just couldn’t talk him out of it ?

  12. Dang, I remember watching this live, momentarily getting excited when I thought it was Tommy Morrison, and then being ho-hum about the whole thing lol

  13. Bruce seldon had one of the best heavyweight jabs of all time. I know he took that dive against Tyson and had some rough losses at the end of his career but in his prime he was a top heavyweight. He picked up several high-profile victories and most of his losses were actually very competitive fights against elite heavyweights
