Bowen Byram playing the BEST hockey of his career as the Buffalo Sabres hang on to beat the Canucks



The Buffalo Sabres built up a huge 4-0 lead over the lowly Vancouver Canucks and with just ten minutes to go, but still managed to let them back in the game, in part due to a baaad goal given up by Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Was it a good game from UPL? Sneaky Joe argues that the third goal he gives up is more evidence that he can never fully be trusted, even within a game where he was otherwise awesome. Bo Byram’s amazing stretch of play continued with two more assists. Lindy Ruff deserves credit for allowing Byram and all his defensemen license to play free and aggressive. It’s clearly working with Byram.

Plus, are Ryan McLeod and Alex Tuch the greatest penalty kill duo in Sabres history? The two connected for another shorthanded goal versus the Canucks. Lindy Ruff says Colten Ellis will get a game in soon. Where is the right place to put that game? Does Lindy really need to start Ellis? And where Jiri Kulich might re-enter the lineup if he returns sometime soon.

    Sabres imposed their will, as they should, on Canucks for first 2 periods. 3rd period different story Canucks were trying too. A win is a win, lot of hockey left 🏒

    UPL and the Sabres were perfect for 50:00+ minutes last night and were up 4-0. For 5 minutes after the 50:00 minutes mark the Sabres collapsed. BUT, you had a defensive break down and FAIL to clear a rebound on UPLs 1st goal, Petterson, one of the NHLs and Vancouvers best shooters is left wide open in front of the net on the 2nd goal… The 3rd Goal was the tough one but, f-it.. UPL put them in position to win with 2.5+ periods of shut out hockey 👍 🏒 💯 ⚔️

    Watch Dahlin on this game. He did not play well at all. It was so glaring, but I think it’s hard to pile on the Captain. (Could be a lot of obvious reasons especially this year but he has not played well all year)

    Im not even a hater of quinn as much as I have been the past couple years, but they need to make some top 9 forward room for Kulich/Oslund/Helenius and maybe Rosen fast. Gotta make a 2 for 1 trade and get Krebs and Quinn off the roster or at least out of the T9
