Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice meets the media after his team lost 4-1 to the host Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 6, 2026.
He was not thrilled with how his team played. The Panthers gave up three goals within a span of about 5 minutes between the first and second.
Brad Marchand did not play in the third period; Maurice said it was out of precaution.
Florida got its lone goal from Carter Verhaeghe in the third; the Leafs added an empty-net goal late.
The Panthers continue their six-game road trip Thursday in Montreal.

It does feel a bit like even the players have given up on this season a bit. I’ve never seen a string of so many games where Paul has said after that he didn’t like the effort. Even last year when they were struggling after 4 nations he still generally liked their game and chalked it up to puck luck. We will see after Tkachuk comes back but unless he has an insane impact, and especially with Jones out now, this is looking like it’s going to be a restful summer for the panthers (which they deserve to be honest)
Slow start Bob did what he could
