Strome did not accept Zub’s apology for tripping Protas – Tough Call Recommendation

Dylan Strome somehow earned his team a powerplay after Artem Zub tripped Aliaksei Protas dangerously into the boards. Strome responded by poking Zub in the chest/stomach and then punching him in the head. He only got two for roughing. Zub got two for tripping and somehow also got an extra two for roughing.

  1. All these lumberjack chops and spears this year- someone’s gonna go a little too far at one point.

  2. The only way this could be more of a spear is if he used his skate blade to whittle the stick down to a point and completely impaled the guy!

  3. it was a love poke — happens all the time. it was nothing. the real douche here is zub. just like rantinen a few weeks ago, a pro nhl player is so skilled and knows exactly what they are doing at high speed… the trip was on purpose.

  4. DPOS is a joke, hockey is the ONLY sport OUTSIDE of MMA actively promoting, allowing and infact encouraging plays which result in concussions, brain damage and CTE, and let's face it, they REFUSE to do anything to change equipment or rules, the hockey helmet is basically the exact same as the one I was wearing in 2008, where are the NextGen helmets? Where are the guardian caps? I heard some dude built 3 prototypes and every manufacturer blatantly ignored to even look at these "concussion reduction helmets" or whatever the guy wants to call them

  5. The trip was part a standard hockey which was deserving of a penalty even though it was not intentional. What Strome did was not a hockey play at all and was deliberate. Bad call on the ice all round. Strome should have been tossed on the spot. Failure to suspend him for this would amount to approving violence. In spite of a lack of history with Strome, a $5,000 fine would be a joke; just as it would be for a first murder. That is how you discourage/prevent a second offence. Suspension 2-3 games.

  6. I'm not saying that it's alright, but I understand (Strome's reaction). A $5-10K fine should suffice.
