As a Leafs fan I'm stoked that Matthews did something good offensive again but I'm not going to get excited until they start doing it against teams that aren't struggling.

I remember last trade deadline Luke Schenn got traded to the Pens and refused to play for them because he wanted to go to a "good team" and so he went to Winnipeg, and now the Pens are better than Winnipeg lol.

“Those in leafs land think they’re back” is a very low iq thing to say eck. How have the leafs been the last what 12+ games? We are painfully aware how bad it went for a couple months there. But they are playing completely different than they were during that down time.
Man I'm a Hawks fan, but at least they were "supposed" to be bad this year.. Jets were contenders in a lot of experts eyes. Still a ways to go to be fair, Jets are more than capable of a heater, the Hawks sadly are not lol.

To me the Jets aren't terrible, for long stretches of games they're actually controlling the game, but then they have 2 minutes of boneheaded play after 18 minutes of solid play, and then they're down 1 or 2. Someone just poops the bed in the stupidest way.
(I say this as I turned the Leafs game off as I thought they had it – I'm more of a gamer than a hockey guy).
What is it, something like 15 losses by 1 goal. It's crazy.

As a Jets fan I can confirm our depth is ass and we can’t score outside our top line. Also Eric Comrie has been really bad as of late. At least we have a chance at first overall.

As a Canucks fan I feel the pain of jets fans it sucks when you have a good season 1 year and then have a terrible season the next year. Hopefully both teams can turn things around but I am starting to see that possibility fade away everyday

What's more pathetic is how many Jets's fans continue to defend Cheveldayoff, thinking he's doing a good job. He is constantly absolved of his failings with the excuse that he has the toughest GM job in the league. That does not fly. This is one of 32 NHL franchises. It's his job to figure it out and he hasn't.
And players don't choose not to come to Winnipeg because of the weather. They don't want to come to this team because this organization is not serious about truly contending. The trade deadline last season, and the off-season moves proved this. Chevy does not know how to construct a a true contender. They had 2 good regular seasons in 2017-18 & last season, and he did not know how to build on those seasons to put this team over the top. A good regular season is considered good enough for this current front office.
And the fact that Chipman seems to have given Chevy a lifetime contract is just pure lunacy. This is a business, not a country club. And it just makes this organization look like a joke. From 1st in the league to dead last has NEVER been done before, and NO changes have been made.
This team needs a new GM with a fresh set of eyes and a different mode of thinking. A GM who is not risk adverse and who is willing to make tough decisions.

Regular season is meaningless for both teams anyway. Jets "truly elite goalie" chokes in playoffs and as for Leafs, the whole team chokes.

Scheifele lost any credibility as a Canada hopeful after he intentionally tried to hurt Jake Evans. He lost all "character" claims then and there and, for a guy who would be playing the bottom of the lineup for Canada, he's a liability for me. Hope he never plays for us again.
Not that crazy that Matthews caught Sundin. Sundin consistently had more assists than goals and consistently played with 3rd liners for more than half of his career. He had like a year of Mogilny when he was still firing them and that's it. Matthews had one or more of Nylander, Tavares and Marner for his entire career.
The last time Sundin had a player of that caliber on his team in the peak or upswing of their career was…in Quebec lmao
It's literally a historic collapse for the Jets. First team ever to win the President's Trophy and then enter the following calendar year at last in the league. But hey, at least Stanley looks like he belongs in the NHL now. Gavin McKenna is looking pretty good at the World Juniors too, so there are some bright spots.
As Jet & an Canuck fan… it been a Terrible Season for Both of them. On the bright side. at least one of them has a higher chance to draft McKenna.

Picking up Ghost Nyquist did nothing in terms of filling the void left by losing Ehlers. One guy you like to pull for is Sheiffly. He has guts and plays hard. I felt really bad when he lost his father. That is a hard pill to swallow!

Ngl as a Wild fan it does feel good to watch the Jets suffer. But at the same time, id so much prefer it be the jets where the stars are in the standings. No matter how much I hate the jets, it’s always fuck norm green. Plus it’s closer to drive to peg and watch the wild for me lol
