I was waiting for the question on defense cause that's our team's biggest issue right now. The fact that Steve said the defensive depth is good and not great or excellent and knows that Jensen rushed back to early after surgery gives me a bit more confidence that he is indeed looking for another right side defenseman I really hope we get it. Cause not only Jensen but Spence as well haven't shown they are Top 4 D this season. I would say Spence has the slight edge over Jensen but I don't like the look of both of them being in the lineup especially when we have a defenseman like Matinpalo who I have full confidence in playing with Kleven on that bottom pair
I have all confidence in this team as is – no drastic change/trade is dire including the absence of Linus Ullmark. They play a consistent game and although puck-luck or a bad night in net may seem to contradict the effort output, it has been consistent. They have the ability to turn things around in-house just as the divisional rival that has done so (10 games win streak as a hint). Go Sens!
This team needs a skilled top 6 winger, and a top 4 RD. Get rid of Jensen, and Green is a mid coach. Stutzle has 0 support, Green doesn't play him with Batherson and nobody else comes close in speed and skill. Sanderson has taken a step back defensively and is not playing like an elite player most games.
let s be honest , we have no assets to make good trade , this team needs top 4 defenseman more than anything but at the same time can not give up Greig , or any of prospects , we just need to play the best we can till trade deadline as more players be available and hopefully Ullmark can come back and be the goaltender we believe he can be
As a sens fan, if we look at the underlying stats, we have the top defense in the league, a top 4 forward group, and our 5v5 corsi numbers are top 3. Staois is right, our save precentage goes up by 10% we have another 5-10 points. Thats why, when ully took a leave of absence i was somewhat relived that there was a outside issue going on and not just him being shit. Love him, hope he takes however long he needs to get right. Merillinanen with consistent playtime has the opportunity to be an elite goaltender. So to all sens fans, we aint even 41 games in, I think by march we will be top 3 in the division.
I like it. He has faith in these players and so do I. The goaltending could’ve maybe been addressed at the beginning of the year to have a bit more depth and competition, but overall I think this is a good roster if we can get some health luck and Levi gives us some good games. If goaltending and the PK continue to hold this team back, the decision to not change the goalie coach or pk coach is inexcusable.
