  1. Another awesome video, I really like the gear breakdown ….gear is why I started playing. I do a little mask painting myself and can say that your paint is deadly! My question for you is, what do you do with your gear once you have deemed it not for use,? what is the process and where does it end up? Cheers from BC.

  2. Sweet video, love these videos. I gotta question:

Lotta amature folks have lists of dream equipment. At your level, could you/do you own any piece of equipment you'd like? I know you talked a bit about this, but are there sponsership deals yall gotta adhere to? Are there any financial/practical constraints you still run into when acquiring the dream loadout? (obviously using stuff like collector items or team specific gear on ice have obvious constraints)

  3. As a 77, year old ex goaltender, I would say about, early to mid 1980 s, Brown and Vaughn, came out with lighter, stronger, way more protective, arm, shoulder, and chest protecter s!The glove and blockers basically stayed the same !I used to tape a inch thick, piece of stroyro foam, to my bottom of the blocker, because of dipping, pucks, deflection, and sticks breaking my fingers!I started playing with no mask, then a Bauer mask similar to a catchers mask,no throat protecter or helmet!Took a high, hard, one in the jaw, that twisted my jaw, and popped my ear drums!Beleive it or not, just recently, I had a revelation, if that puck, was a inch lower, it would of hit me in the throat!I played for twenty years, never as a pro, but a lot of the guys I played with were transplants from Canada, or all over who played college, juniors, and got jobs here in Chicago! The bruises, bloody as hell, really, on arms, shoulders, and a lot in the thighs, and I had the best equiptment, I landed sewing a baseball, chest protecter, shoulder cap protectors, made od foam rubber covered nylon cups, on the tips of my chest protecter for more protection, I also sewed parts of the baseball chest protecter on each side of the chest protecter to protect mr ribs!Sir, all, of the NHL,goaltenders at that time did the same!I finally at the end of my playing days wore a mask, similar to Dominic Hasek, with a plexiglass glass swinging throat protecter! My last pair of pads was D and R, pure leather, out of Quebec, a French Canadian Company!Great, pair of pads!In this day and age they would be considered not protective enough, and way to heavy!I also, sewed, a black nylon pouch between my five hole on my goalie pants, illegal, but it worked for a long time!I was caught, had to remove it, got a delay of game penalty for illegal equiptment!I used a Wooden Northland Custom Pro,and Victorioville,Pro Special goaltenders stick!I played as a kid in the 1950 s and early 1960 s. When, I got out of the Army, in 1970, at, 21 years old, I played non stop till about 1993 94!Played with some great players, and better people, I was no, Glen Hall, Johnny Bower, Tony Esposito, or Bernie Parent! But boy did I enjoy every minute of it!Just my old thoughts!I hope I did not bore any one!Thomas A.FilipiakChicago !

  4. Joe, I know that some goaltenders are biased/ loyal towards certain equipment brands and many stick to one brand but I’ve noticed that some goalies like yourself and Filip Gustavsson of the Wild will mix and match brands, which personally I’ve always been for, like he uses everything Bauer but a True glove and just matches the color scheme like you. Now what i am wondering is do brands get mad about that kind of stuff? Because obviously if it were up to them they would probably want you in all of their gear, like Jake Oettinger is a full Bauer poster boy, like are you allowed to have multiple gear sponsorships from other brands or can you really just be like I only want to use this sponsorship for these specific items from this brand and use the others from the other brands you choice. I mean maybe it’s not even a sponsorship, i was just curious how that all works

  5. That dark setup is clean. I was rocking a white setup when I was playing at NAU but i always loved seeing your ccm setups whenever we would drive down to the Oceanside rink. I’m coming up to watch a home game against the ducks in January so hopefully I can get a glimpse of these sets on the ice in person. Thinking about getting trues for my next set soon.

  6. Goalies are such VJ’s these days , my high school days were 92-96, those tenders were the shiz y’all these days are such pushys

  7. yo! did i see that you don’t have a chin strap in your masks? it looks like a chin sling, but i might be mistaken. genuinely curious, never seen a bauer with a chin sling

  8. Always wanted to see pad graphics that match the team socks and blocker/glove that match team gloves. Ever thought of that graphic? I assume the pad brands make you use the current year’s graphic though…

  9. Awesome video! How much time do you get to get dressed for warm ups or before a game? I like to take my time 😅

  10. I’m curious if you have any good tips for breaking in a glove. Every glove I have had has been very stiff, I keep opening and closing them but I can’t seem to get them to get pass a certain stiffness. Any advice is greatly appreciated.🙏

  11. The 960 is a great bucket. My 16u kid has practiced with D1 and juniors kids. Took a few shots right to the head and cage. Had to replace the cage. But no concussions, ever. His goalie partner is playing off and on in WHL and same helmet, no issues. Expensive but totally with the money.

  12. It's so wild seeing such a good hearted pro with so few subs on here, get this man to the millions he's a credit to tendys everywhere🙏

  13. Can we maybe see a video on how you integrate the second lace into the pants that are used to tie down the chesty, very neat goalie gear nerd mod that’s quite neat and just wondering how’s it’s done.

  14. What’s the blade profile? What blade profile are most nhl goalies using on their skates? Stock, goalie Sam, goalie win, ellipse?

  15. Went to my first NHL game tonight. Got my first jersey and of course I had to get you 35!!! Daccord you were like 15 ft away and it took everything from running to you the only game😂😂but I was wondering what's the thing you do in the tunnel cause you didn't play tonight. Is it to help keep your head in the game?

  16. I love you joey you always make my days better after watching you . Also what is your best quote l? I also believe in the cut proofs stuff

  17. Question I’ve had for a long time – why don’t you guys wear the winter classic/winter classic style gear all season long? Looking at the kit from both the rangers and panthers this year, it’s a shame to only wear that one game. In my opinion, the winter classic gear is usually nicer than the regular stuff, even with the regular jerseys. Levi wore all brown last year and it was sick

  18. I was very disappointed when true stopped offering leather straps instead of the fsr to the retail customers. I would also love the option to do a ultra sonic blocker instead of bauer's current options. Its also nice to see someone else who appreciates weave!
