New Year’s MANTRAS For The San Jose Sharks As They Continue To EXCEED Expectations

San Jose Sharks chase long-term defensive help to support Yaroslav Askarov and accelerate the rebuild—who could emerge as Grier’s next cornerstone addition? Young stars like Macklin Celebrini, Sam Dickinson, and Igor Chernyshov continue to drive the team’s surge, but does leaning on rookie power mean growing pains or a sustainable turnaround?

JD Young highlights why patience with veterans such as John Klingberg and Ryan Reaves is paying off, analyzes Ryan Warsofsky’s approach to player development, and debates which AHL prospects—like Filip Bystedt and Luca Cagnoni—deserve expanded NHL opportunities. Are the Sharks setting themselves up for success by prioritizing youth leadership, or should fans expect more roster shake-ups at the trade deadline? Get the latest insights on San Jose’s evolving strategy, future potential, and the road ahead in the Pacific Division.

  1. I really enjoy your videos, it is appreciated the effort you put in to them. It keeps us up to date on all things sharks, especially being so far away here in sunny old England. Thank you

  2. When it comes to patience i' m a little bit undicided. The sharks shouldn't wait until their defensive prospects are ready. Defenseman take longer to develope. I hope MG tries to improve the D sooner than later. I would take a shot on a player like Werenski if likes to stay for 5 or 6 years. He would fit in very well with his style of play.Add another good Veteran D and the sharks are in a very good spot.

  3. Smith, celebrini, Graf

    Eklund, misa, cherny.

This spreads out the talent and gives misa and cherny the dynamic duo chance in the NHL.

I think this is the best option to force the other teams shutdown line into a tough decision.

  4. What does Grier do when Smith, Kurashev, Gaudette, Misa, Desharnais, Liljegren, are ready to come back? You can't send Chernyshov back!

  5. Trading a vet could upset this apple cart. Ostapchuk has been developing as a 4th line center, Reaves has been soo good as the glue guy who is bringing this team closer. Graf & Dellandrea need to stay, who goes? Winnberg? Skiner? Ferarro? Klingberg?
