  1. He extended, Rant needs to answer the bell next time they play. They put stop signs on the back of our jerseys in the late 90s because kids had permanent injuries due to checking from behind.

  2. You can tell Dallas was pissed. They were down 3-1 and being outplayed. Did you see the dives they were doing? Anything to get a power play. What about when Horvat got tripped. 4 minutes and a game misconduct. Are you joking. Even the refs were looking to help Dallas. I lost tons of respect for that team. The embellishments were crazy.

  3. Intent is not always up to interpretation. For instance, there is a clear difference between the intent behind this, and the intent behind Claude lemieux's hit on draper. Sometimes, it is clear. I really do think there was not much in the way of intent to injure here and that has to mean something.

  4. Josi didn't get suspended when he took out Brady for 8+ weeks, so the fact that this play is even being debated is laughable.

  5. Yeah just like vancouver vs avalanche was a fun game after after Moore took out Nasland. Maybe we should de escalate a bit guys.

  6. I do not care about Islanders or Stars BUT suspend Rantanen for THAT? Come on…He could have buried Romanov in that situation but he didn't.

Romanov shoulder checked and saw Rantanen behind him. HE TURNED HIS BACK FULLY GOING INTO THE BOARDS. You can't have it be "Oh my back is turned he can't touch me now hehehehehe" or the entire league will turn into people turning last second to get calls. As the guy going to get the puck first you have to take some slight responsibility for yourself and be prepared for contact.

Yes head shots and yes absolutely driving someone from behind should be suspended. Neither happened here. Romanov was an idiot and put himself in a stupid position and then fell with the lightest of contact….I've seen plenty of players stay on their feet with way worse happening to them………

  7. im not saying Rantanen is a dirty player, but he doesnt always make plays with other players safety in mind

  8. The NHL hasn't truly cared about protecting players in a long time. They do not care about accountability or doing anything to make the players worry about the consequences of their actions. Fluff fines do nothing.

  9. Come on let's go back to Dumba when he took out Pavelski in the playoffs and he didn't even get penalized Period So why is this even being talked about???

  10. Who is this fat pantload crying? First of all, the NHL has forgotten more about the game and YOU pretend to know, no suspension and they looked at it dozens of times, so shut it. Roy blew a blood vessel without REALLY seeing what happened – which was Rantanen was ALSO hit from behind and he didn't PUSH Romanov, his arm barely touched his back. Romanov – flying towards the boards – KNEW he was going into them – which is why he dropped to his knees and hit the boards face first, not head first.
It was Romanov's speed that caused any injury – not Rantanen being behind him

  11. I didn't really see intent from anyone involved. A whole bunch of crap went wrong and none of it was intended to injure anyone. Everyone calm down and also yeah, you can't have coaches directly threatening players like that.

  12. Right, but if a player hits someone normally and the receiver loses an edge as they go down and gets badly injured, how is intent not taken into account? Rantanen's hit was bad because of the position on the ice. You can't push someone down like that when you're 7 feet off the boards. If they go down, they're going to slide towards the boards and their head will hit them. Intent is important, and at this level of hockey where everyone knows the physics of blades, bodies, and ice, culpability is important too.

  13. Ain't no way people are trying to argue that an Islanders player made that happen lol. Rantanen clearly did this intentionally.
