I love Keefe's transparency, he's a good coach. This is 100% on the players and the GM. The fact that Keefe said he is looking for players to step up, show balls, show urgency…. he's basically saying this is not the right group of players to win. You can't coach urgency & balls. Players either have it or they don't. This grp clearly doesn't have it. Break up the core already.
Not getting Quinn was a travesty. We have too many pieces on no trade clauses just riding out big congrats. Buy out some contract, find a way to move those pieces, it’s unacceptable that we didn’t get Hughes. We have only 4 pieces that I wouldn’t move to get him.
This, is 100% on Fitzgerald. He’s handcuffed the team with bad contracts (yeah, I know it seems ok at the time,) but handing out THAT many NTC’s, is just crazy. Bench Hamilton, and embarrass him. Same with Palat. TF, has created a REALLY bad culture in NJ, by catering to players FAR more than he should have. He doesn’t have the kind of BALLS required, to run a professional franchise. He literally CRIED when he had to terminate Ruff, and waited FAR to long to get this team any help in past years. Trade Bratt, or some part of this core. I’m even open to dumping Timo, at this point. You need a BUNCH of new faces, so a 6-8 player blockbuster is probably what’s needed.

If Dougie & Palat could get traded w/1 new Fwd. aquired & Nemec came back they could shuffle PP, PK, Fwd lines, AND D Pairs which could be the mental shift to snap these guys out of the funk & let them not feel like they are a trash team which is not a Contender.

Keefe was not the HC signing at all. Every** Devil has declined in both seasons with him, he never gets consistency from the team, he refuses to acknowledge Timo as the best PP Fwd. when EVERY MSG & NHL analyst will tell you he is the Best PP scorer on NJ, yet is constantly dropped to PP2 on a team who runs PP1 for 1:45 secs out of 2mins & doesn't put PP2 out to start the following PP.
Down 3 goals & the team has had a massive scoring issue with under 10mins. left he is still putting out the entire 4th line. No lines got shuffled to make power lines ex. Jack – Nico – Timo Grits – Mercer – Bratt Cotter – Jack – Brown/Noesen
Those should have been the lines as soon as TOR got thr 3rd goal.
Fitz was rebuilding cautiously through the draft & smart extensions even legit nickle & dimed Bratt yr. after yr w/1yr bridge deals to not over pay him. -Then boom Fitz fell behind & GM in the NHL pays the big bucks for a reason you can get eaten alive real quick & that he did💯 •1 HORRID FA Signing overpaying Palat + too much term w/undeserved NTCs •Dougie unluckily got hurt EVERY 🤬ing season except 1 in NJ getting injured prior •Where he really implodes is extending Kovy as I don't have it saved but take my word in summary he basically said he signed Kovy to be savvy as he is aware of the RD depth & logjam it will create mentioning if you can get talent under contract to turn into an asset or make another player become available as an asset you do it. -This makes perfect sense if you weren't -$5M in Cap Space & anchored to 2 bad contracts w/NTCs.
-Now he has 3 issues & added multiple future issues to enter Devils in full rebuild mode after Lukes overpayment, how that will shift future internal NJ Devil contract extension values to also be overvalued, & overpaying Markstrom for too much term
1) No one gave a shit about the game other than Nico. He had a game high of 4 shots. Played both ends of the ice. Even had to fight a way bigger and heavier guy just to send a message to the team to wake the fuck up. If Nico doesn't re-sign here, we will have NO ONE else to blame but ourselves. He does not deserve this lackluster effort of a team. This is a guy that shows heart and grit. His effort is not always shown in the box score because of his intangibles but fuck I have never seen him so distraught after a game. He was sitting alone on the bench after the game was over for MINUTES just staring blankly at the ice. This is a man that deserves to win. I've seen Nico with the Mooseheads losing, and I've seen Nico all these years with the Devils LOSING again.
2) Where the fuck is Meier, Jack, Luke, Bratt, and Mercer? I get having a sub-par defense with Nemo and Kovy gone, but our lines are as close as it is to being complete. Sure there's no Grandpa Dadonov and no Enforcer McEwen, but they are not the focal points of our offense. Why is our offense so dry as if Tate McRae had sucked every one of our guys' energy away?
3) I have not defended Fitz, but I have not attacked Fitz as much, but if there is any time to fire him, it is YESTERDAY. It is unfathomable that he still holds a job as a President, Head of Ops, and GM of the Devils. He must know that Josh Harris and David Blitzer are both in the epstein files and Fitz is holding them at ransom and blackmail in case he gets canned. Fitz acts like Opera in the 2000's, everyone gets a fucking NMC and NTC. For the Fitz defenders, remember the 2021-2022 season going into the 2022-2023 season? We had a shit ton of cap space, and a promising young pool of talents. Where the fuck are all our prospects? We have YEGOROV and SILAYEV, and… THAT'S IT? Compare that to teams like Montreal that has a fuckton of prospects still yet to be called up in Fowler, Hage, Beck, Engstrom, Reinbacher. Holy fuck is our team cooked. We're going straight into the Rico years (no offense to Rico, but 2013-2021 was the hardest watch for me).
4) Fire Keefe too, but not because it is only Keefe's fault. Fitz caused this shit onto him. His system went from a skill-based offense to a grinder-tough style of game and it is not Keefe's strengths. I miss the run and gun style we had during the 2022-2023 season where Bratt, Hischier, Mercer and Jack were on fire.
Tom Fitzgerald is to the Devils what Chris Ballard is to the Indianapolis Colts. This team has been exposed for what it is: mediocre and inconsistent. We’re not gonna back into the playoffs like last year. And even if we did, what’s the point? We’re never beating Carolina or the Florida teams with this roster. I love Jack, Nico, Bratt, and literal handful of kids we have. Everyone else is a stiff. Just like every year. Josh, do the right thing to start of the year. Say bye bye, Fitz!

Nico is not going to resign with the Devils. What would he do when the organization has looser mentality?
We're 7th in the division right now, hanging out with the Blue Jackets. This is intolerable given the expectations coming into the year.
