Joel Blomqvist turned in a stellar outing, turning aside 31 shots through regulation and overtime. But Lenni Hämeenaho found the back of the net for the lone shootout goal, as the Utica Comets posted a 3-2 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night at the Mohegan Arena.
Joona Koppanen recorded his third goal in two days against the Comets, and Avery Hayes netted his ninth of the year for the home club.
Jakub Malek stopped 31 shots himself to secure the victory for the visitors.
