PuckTalk Preview | Montembeault Returns As Habs Face Panthers On Back-To-Back

Welcome back to PuckTalk MTL, your trusted source for Montreal Canadiens previews, NHL analysis, and in-depth hockey discussion!

In this PuckTalk Preview, Kosta looks ahead to a challenging matchup as Samuel Montembeault returns to the crease while the Montreal Canadiens face the Florida Panthers on the second half of a tough back-to-back.

He’ll break down what Montembeault’s return means for the Habs’ goaltending situation, how workload and fatigue could impact Montreal’s lineup, and what adjustments head coach Martin St. Louis may need to make. Can the Canadiens manage their energy, stay structured defensively, and generate offense against a fast, physical Panthers team?

He also analyzes Florida’s strengths, including their aggressive forecheck, transition speed, and ability to pressure tired opponents. Key matchups, special teams, and potential X-factors are all covered so fans know exactly what to watch for when puck drops.

Kosta will also breakdown why the anatomy of a hockey stick and its weakest point after Ivan Demidov and Mike Matheson broke a few twigs over the past couple of games, and he’ll tell you why he doesn’t think Blake Coleman is the right fit for the Habs.

Whether you’re a Montreal Canadiens fan, a Florida Panthers supporter, or a dedicated NHL and hockey fan, this preview delivers insight, strategy, and context heading into a critical game.

  1. How do these guys come up with this crap… On these old ass players….5mil for a 34 on a downward trajectory ….and I keep hearing Montreal has the most knowledgeable hockey followers around.

  2. Coach, also when a fiber stick gets the slightest nick on the surface weakens the stick significantly !
Not unlike when a glass cutter etches a scratch on the surface in order to initiate a failure and cut the glass!
    Glass is another brittle material!

  3. "Aluminum Hockey Sticks were popular in the NHL during the 1990s, with many players using them, but they have since been largely replaced by composite sticks. The last known NHL players to use aluminum sticks were likely Brendan Shanahan and Tom Poti."

  4. Forget Ryan O'Reilly…we don't need him…let the Leafs try him again…lol…forget Coleman…the Habs need a winger for the Suzuki line…the simplest solution for me…put Josh Anderson on the Suzuki line…for now and bring up Florian from Laval…

  5. Great show tonight Kosta! Very informative break down analysis on the sticks, awesome pep talk to get us ready for the Panthers!! Go Habs!!

  6. 1) Hosel is pronounced "HAWZUHL".
    2) Do you think taping the high-flex portion of the stick would help prevent breakage by protecting that area from chips and cracks?

  7. Habs will have to do something soon. Dach will be back and can play first line winger . He's shown it before . They currently have 23 rostered players 3 on IR and 2 on LTIR. Beck and Engstrom will be sent down when Dach and Guhle come back .Newhook and Evans most likely after the Olympic Break . I really think the Habs make a deal just after the Olympics when Newhook and Evans come back .Laine will be close as well. The Habs will have some interesting decisions to make .
    Cauf–Suz–Dach Math–Dob
    Slaf–Kap–Dem Huts–Guhle
    Tex–Dan-New Xhek/Stru/Carr/
    Bold–Evans–And
    gally veleno laine

Over the cap and over the max for rostered players. Does trading for Coleman make sense when you look at this?
Habs need to make a move, but Coleman isn't the right one. Could put Gally– Coleman–Anderson 4th line for 17mil lmao!! What do you think Arpon?

  8. I would give Monty 2 more games to prove himself if he doesn't its over we are gonna be in January very soon it's no time to mess up.

  9. I don’t know if I see it OR just hope it happens… I’m by hoping Monty makes a STATEMENT tonight that he’s back … it will be good for him and the Habs and potential better trade value … and problem for management if Monty returns playing his best hockey
