Marchment trip and Barzal slash – who should get what? – Tough Call Recommendation
Mason Marchment took out Matthew Schaefer with a questionable trip, and Mat Barzal responded with a slash to Marchment’s foot. What should the suspensions be, if any?
i like ur system bc its very predictable. I had a feeling ud assess a fine on the trip bc it was a little more than a routine minor penalty, and i was predicting 7-8 games for the slash.

I think it’s a good hockey play from Brazal as long as the slash isn’t in the head fair game hack away in the leg or foot if a veteran player wants to target a rookie tit for tat good play
Totally agree with the slash on Marchment. Just wish Mayfield (who is more expendable) would have done it instead of Barzal. Suspend Barzal for 1 game. Marchment is going to remember that slash for the next few weeks…that fkn' hurts!
I look at that and think good for Barzal for sticking up for his rookie star. Marchment sticking out a knee is the type of move that causes injuries that can flare up for a career; Barzal's move will hurt for a couple of weeks but is just a stupid tax for Marchment doing that to the Calder favourite. No place for sticking out a knee in hockey, I hope they suspend Marchment.
People dont remember but barzal in the best year of his career was injury by this same guy that try to injury Schaeffer, so i understand i he do this, the league need to stop this scrap players that just injury others
Ok now back in reality Marchment wont get anything. Barzal either a fine or 1 game at most. He didnt go over and cross check him across the face. Marchment didnt miss anytime and Barzal appropriately was ejected from the game.
This definitely reminds me of Nurse on Hintz, except with a significantly more dangerous play that that led to the two-hander reaction. I like your consistency with how you'd call it, I wonder if the DoPS will be just as consistent
If your system was in place marchement might have had enough supplementy fines and punishement by this point to not exhibit this behaviour. That trip can ruin a players season doing that if unlucky. A slash to the top of the foot will hurt to all heck but isnt a season ending play. Targeted weak spot to cause pain 100%. We know the sport and the optics of that hack are terrible yes. If that stick is wood chopped above the hips its 8 and to the head its automatic 2 year. Getting punched in the head which is a part of the sport can cause more damage than a wood chop to any new skate. Thats a 5 min major and fine all day.

It’s a sport but if you make a dirty dangerous play on a rookie superstar, a slash on the feet is well worth a retaliation to send a message from the team.
There's only 1 good reason that this "isn't a play that has anything to do with hockey" and it's because the refs broke up a fight that was about to happen for a dirty trip. So, in that regard, it does end up having everything to do with hockey. If you let them fight, this doesn't happen. Period.
