@Montreal Canadiens

He’s arrived, but what’s next?

The Canadiens looked dead in the water against Tampa Bay, trailing 4–1 late then completely flipped the script. Juraj Slafkovský powered Montreal’s comeback with a massive third period, capped off by a clutch tying goal with under four seconds left to force overtime. Montreal showed real resilience, pushed the Lightning to the brink, but ultimately fell 5–4 in the shootout. A frustrating loss in the standings, but a game that says a lot about this team’s compete level and core pieces.

  1. You gotta be happy with how this ended. It looked grim there for a while… but we're starting to see parts of the team we saw after the 4 Nations Faceoff last season.

Thank you as always for your support – hope you had a good night, take care everyone. 🙂

  2. Apparently between the 1st and 2nd period there was a little hockey game between 2 teams of little kids (as they usually do before they do the ice) and fights broke out and the kids dropped the gloves. (Totally unplanned)

  3. You can’t forget that the first line is generally facing the 1st line of the opposing team… thats a big assignment on some teams. The only time that isn’t true is on the odd sneaky faceoff and on pp when they mix up lines. In my opinion as long as they wade the storm they are doing their job… getting goals is necessary, but the entire team gotta pitch in too. If fir a while the first line shuts down and the second powers through and gets points, then so be it. Thats still successful

  4. Suzuki and Caufield NEED a big guy to do the dirty work in the corner and back of the net.
Slaf did that, now without Slaf they aren't nearly as good. Texier and Demi are good, but not big enough to do the work Slaf does. They need a bruiser, not a shooter.
Bolduc could have been the guy to do it, he's got the size but just not the legs, it seems. I don't know, seems like he's always just a bit behind or too low. Late seeing the passing lane, late swinging on the one timer…. If I was MSL, I would give Anderson a shot… big guy, works hard, does the dirty work, fast skater… why not? He might not have the legs to play the big minutes though.

  5. I think that suz should have went to some worlds championships when he had the chances… he was not playing PO (other than last year) and he never went with team Canada… I think coaches takes that into regard… it is different situation when someone is playing PO almost every year and have injuries etc. but suz has been healthy past years and have not been playing PO games so he didnt have any reasons not to go other than he didnt wanted to

  6. Feel you on holidays with the kiddos man, a blast but ya feel like you got shot from a cannon after haha

Hope you had a good holiday!

  7. Young, talented, high skill team with some defensive wrinkles and a lot to learn. We need to be patient. The future is so bright we will all be wearing shades and sunscreen.

  8. Exciting, was it? On the 3rd goal I went to do something else then I see on the news they scored about 3 sec before the end.
I went to see it, in the circumstances, I wasn’t surprised with the result.
I spared myself some cortisol spike. Damn Demidov and Slavs can play.

  9. It’s also time to rethink the players who’s spent so much time on the IR. Obviously the guys who stay healthy are doing a fine job. So the guys like Laine his time is over. This will be his last year here unless he’s willing to sign for a league minimum. Same with Dach and Newhook as far as I’m concerned. Both haven’t eve proven they can stay healthy let alone reach their potential. These guys are a bust. Truth hurts sometimes. I’m over it.

  10. I can't stand Tampa, can't stand Kucherov but I love Jon Cooper always giving Montreal kudos, he's a real class act. Tampa got some lucky bounces this game, let's get em next time. Go Habs Go

  11. All the slaf haters back into their caves! 😂 gotta say love the elder scrolls reference 😂

  12. Goal, Nick and Slaf=great first line! Goal, nick and Bolduc… struggling! Demidov, Kap and Bolduc=struggling 2nd line! Demidov, Kap and Slaf= great 2nd line! What, oh what could have gone wrong with the first line, and what could be done to get them back on track?

  13. I got up at 10.3 seconds left and i said: Please GOD let the habs scored so i get to scream that 10 seconds is a lot of the time (my girlfriend did not understand why i was hype for the icing lol) and oh boy was i not Disapointed, i don't remember screaming harder for a tying goal, that extra point came out of nowhere and we don't diserve it lol

Obviously 2 points sounds better but these are the types of night you just run with the scoreboard

    GO HABS GO

  14. Also i bought a Series one Tin and i got The Demidov Rookie Dazzlers and the Lane Hutson Encore in back to back packs, hype!!

  15. Bolduc is fine on the first line. His line mates need to get their shit together! 2nd line is solid leave it alone. Find a new home for Monty.

  16. If Demidovs stick didn't break on that shot… "big headed" Kucherov doesn't score. How many times we see that in the league these days? Surely they can make sticks that won't break when you look at them.

Was soooo happy when they came back. Glad they got a point!

  17. – My man '' Slafkovsky Demidov Hutson, these are beautiful people. '' This one will stay forever in my mind mon ami.

  18. Well, they came back and got a point, though, pretty amazing, acquiring some more experience, of course, but at least they feel like they are able to come back. Now,if the can lower the turnover ratio (the 3 goals for TB were clearly turnovers) it'll become a very interesting end of season. Bonne Année 🙂
