The Flames Are Suddenly Close To A Playoff Spot… NOW WHAT?? | FN Barn Burner

Boomer and Rhett break down the Calgary Flames’ surprising surge, as the team goes from a miserable start to suddenly sitting just three points out of a playoff spot. Are the Flames actually turning into a legit playoff contender, or should they still be looking to bottom out like so many fans in Calgary want? The guys dig into what’s changed, why they’re winning, and what it could mean for the rest of the season.

  1. Flames are a playoff team if they can beat starting goalies. They're not a playoff team if they only beat the backup goalies.

  2. Just mid out until the deadline, trade Anderson, they have a tough schedule from late February-April. Tank.

  3. Stop. Please stop. They won't make the playoffs and they will ruin their draft options. AGAIN. No wonder everyone is re-thinking their season tickets.

  4. The fact that Colorado has only 2 regulation losses and the Vancouver Canucks are 3 wins away from being in a playoff spot as the worst place team in the league should tell you how unusual this season is. However, for about 20 years (maybe more), the rules to win the Stanley Cup have never been more consistent. Top 3 picks and building from within first are what win you a Stanley Cup. The Flames need to stay the course and draft those players. Then, if this trend continues into following years when they actually have an amazing team, they should have no problem establishing themselves as a dynasty and winning cups until…let’s say Hugh Jackman is no longer Wolverine. Which is until he’s 90, if I remember correctly.

  5. When the Stars played them earlier this month, I’ll be honest. I thought this would be a win, and we can probably dictate how the flow goes. Watching that game, and I’ve tried to catch some Flames games here and there. I said, that’s a good team that tries, has effort. Heck, had more effort than what the Oilers had two games prior.

  6. Calgary will not make the playoffs this year. Nor will they achieve a top 10 pick for the draft. We are destined for the mucky middle forever.

  7. Why are we winning games lol? Trade the 3 guys and tank for the bottom . The flames management is beyond delusional. Sure, let's have another 20 years of mediocrity.
