Phil Danault has no offence left. He has a muffin shot. Still having 1 year after this could be a problem.
Why is everyone obsessed with analytics. What do your eyes tell you.
Well said, Marco about going to the net. 👏 😮
What do you think about putting Josh Anderson on the 1st line? He is big and strong and can set up plays.
Were not both of you against trading for Danault?
I think Marco is one of the best analyst on the tube. I think his debate on the goaltending issue is way off though, Fowler earned his respect already, the team deflates with Monty in net. Letting in the first shot and sometimes the first 3 out of 5 shots, letting in timely 3rd period goals from the point….thats not on the team. Agreed that Fowler would be best to simmer in Laval but it’s a business and they have to show wins, if Monty worked out yeah, but until then you can’t keep eating rotten fruit and hope it will taste better
Wow! I have to wonder some times if I'm watching the same game or same team as Marco. So lets take these in no particular order 1) Fowler is a stud BUT still needs to go down PROVIDED Monty can raise his game to as least .900 SV%, we can't just rely on Dobes even though he's playing better 2) Suzuki is the MAN when he realizes he is! After far too many games playing 'timid' (dumping and making Caulfield chase) in the 3rd period we finally saw the Suzuki that led the team in to the playoffs last year 3) So, could we use a 'top 6 player'? Sure, maybe, but lets see what Dach & even Newhook will bring when they're back though this relies on Suzuki playing the way he should be which is driving the play 3) 2nd period let down..seriously? Broken stick, hit a ref, missed interference call at center ice. Tampa is a good team that maximized their luck/opportunities, not all '2nd period let downs' are the same and this can't be lumped in to other examples at all. 4) Failed PP, we were on fire before this game, yeah they didn't look like they had the structure/pose from previous games, no need to panic over it 5) Dobes MAY be a starter but no it is not 'coincidence' that he's played better after some rest, the only thing Fowler needs to work on is his breakaway/shootout but yes he should still be sent down. Even so without one of Dobes/Monty CONSISTENTLY putting up strong games its hard to send Fowler down. 6) Push comes to shove Tampa stole 2 points, we didn't steal 1. The 2nd period was even other than 2 really bad bounces, lets not over analyze what this was. 7) Slafs has demonstrated he's a beast that needs his OWN LINE (the 2nd), push Suzuki to take the 1st line to be his own again and we'll be fine.
"We can't just delete Montembeault" or can we……
Marco dons an Iron Maiden shirt, and he is suddenly Mr. pro working class
I really get a kick out of the goaltending situation. When Monty and Fowler have bad starts its the defense that's breaking down in front of them (watch previous videos) when its Dobes its mainly HIS fault, the goaltending is "inconsistent", Dobes is 12-5-3 with a 2.90 GAA and a .894 save percentage. In 19 starts he has had 3 terrible games. I would hardly call that inconsistent. For a young goalie he has, IMO been very good, but MSL has messed with him so much he loses confidence. And I know Marco is going to say that Dobes has never said that, and he won't, most athletes would never speak out against the coach, its career sucide! I would love to see Dobes get the net, let him be number 1, let Fowler get more experiance in Laval, and keep Monty as the backup until he can be traded. Just my 2 cents, I know it won't be the popular opinion. Oh and one last thing, in OT and SO games Dobes 5-3, Fowler 0-2, Monty 2-1.
Our first line at 5v5 is mehh
Where are all the people who said Slaf was a bust? 🤣. We just need someone to take his place with Nick and Cole. I like Bolduc but he is not the elite winger (Demidov elite) that can be a top line player in just his 2nd season. He still needs development and will be great on the 3rd line until he grows into his potential. A couple of seasons ago Dach was a great winger with Cole and Nick hopefully he can do that again when he gets back. He doesn't use his body like Slaf but he is a big, fast skating guy who can enter the zone with the puck and get it to Nick or Cole. He also has no issue going to the net as long as he doesn't actually "crash" the net and injure his knee again Nice to get a point from what looked like a sure loss after the 2nd period. Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!
And thank you for the membership!
On Noah Dobson
I really appreciate his vision on breakout passes from our zone
Using the boards, almost sending andy to the races
He might have issues in the d zone but he makes beauty passes to our high flying fwds
Ok. Since Marco seemingly can't let things go lets analyze these goals more. 1) Broken stick, neither Matheson or Dobson fell back to defend (they're veterans not kids), 2) hit the ref during a line change, can you SERIOUSLY blame this on anyone? Blame Slaf for not just 'dumping it in'? He tried are you going to be so anal you think in the moment he should have picked a DIFFERENT type of dump in? 3) Missed interference call at center, Danault skated back then coasted rather than taking his man right out of the play (Danault is a veteran). The 2nd period wasn't an example of the age of the team letting the team down. It was a comedy of bad breaks mixed with VETERANS letting the team down. I'll go to my grave arguing we had a very good game other than a couple of bad breaks that happen in hockey some times. The team showed resilience coming back, Slafs needs to stay on that 2nd line and Suzuki needs to drive his line (as he did in the third) and not being playing like he has to be worried about defending all the time. Dump and chase is fine some of the time when the play just isn't there but otherwise he has the skill to make the plays, and when he makes them, good things happen (ala Dobson's goal).
who was supposed to cover Kucherov?
Monty cant stay put in his cease,He's fishing.
As far as Fowler goes and the "numbers" Do not forget how the team played in front of Fowler and keeping his workload to a minimum. Just look at last night and compare the 1st and 2nd period numbers and how the team was so much better in the first than in the second. We are not expecting a Cup this year, we are not in a win now situation let Fowler go back to Laval and get seasoning/development. Let Dobes and Monty take us to whatever we get this season even if we do not make the playoffs. Last year we had more experienced guys like Armia and Devo to keep us in games this year we are even younger, let the young guys learn.
Dach needs to be put on the 1st line
Marco clearly they don't want to lose possession in the OT That's why they have a periphery game instead of driving to the net they're worried about losing control of the puck so they want to be cute with it and wait for that perfect opportunity first time I've disagreed with you.
Dobson is going through the same thing Cole Caulfield did. In other words Marty St Louis is making him work on D first until he gets it down pat and becoming a more complete player. The offense is still going to be there after he develops his overall game and more solid defensively like becoming 3rd in the league at shot blocking (oh wait he is already there now) Let him learn to be a two-way player he is not going to lose that shot or his skating ability.
Dach needs to be on the first line upon his return. He is a winger. Time for him to win on the wing
We know for a fact Suzuki and Caufield aren't line drivers. I've been harping on Suzuki since Slaf was moved. Suzuki needs a big winger, in the off season, does Montreal dangle Caufield for a bigger winger who can battle along the boards and net front?
17:43 Newhook!? lol, the guy has bricks for hands
Slaf or Dach should play on line 1
Dach can use his body, board play, distribute and finish he’s more of top 6 player than all feet No Hands Newhook
19:59 Bolduc has been killing any and all offensive momentum, he doesn’t throw his body around he’s always on the wrong side of the puck, Suzuki and Caufield haven’t been the issue on the 1st line, Bolduc just isn’t him
TB has a very effective, aggressive style PK. Give PP1 another game against them and I think they’ll expose that aggressiveness.
I wish Shaun knew hockey better after all the years.
It's not Bolduc's fault if Suzuki and Caufield play uninspired hockey and have bad body language for the past 10 games.

I dont want Ghule anywhere Matheson, that Chaos Gazelle can have a different partner to throw the hot potato to…
Ghule is more likely to get hurt beside Matheson than any other D on this team.
Those Dobes numbers after rest or not don't mean shit.
It's so annoying, media talking points recycled as if it was Gospel.
We all watched the games.
The team played shit in front of Dobes so many times.
He played his part and more.
Thank you Marco.
