Mitch Marner Tribute – “7 Years”

Mitch Marner career highlights with a small section from an interview he did on August 29th with TSN’s Mark Masters revealing what happened following the Toronto Maple Leafs’ game 7 loss to Florida in May.

I never believed the fan harassment was justified in anyway towards Marner, born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area in nearby Markham, ON, he was a hometown kid who was ran out of town by the worst kinds of fans and the negative hate he got was always exacerbated by the fact that Toronto media is ruthless and fans wanted someone to blame for the Leafs’ losses. It’s one thing to scare players off in free agency that aren’t from Toronto, but to run a 100 point-scoring hometown kid who was drafted and developed in Toronto and played his whole life in and around Toronto (Markham and London as well) is unacceptable, regardless of what he may have done to “cause” the Leafs to lose, the harassment is never justified in any way as he has a family and is a person who needs security to stop people invading his house, it’s just not right.
