I see the NHL ref dev plan, they just hire crap refs from the AHL. This was a penelty shot and the ref blew it.
A penalty shot is awarded when a player is denied a reasonable scoring opportunity on a clear breakaway due to an infraction by an opponent. Key points: Clear breakaway or scoring position: -The player has control of the puck, is moving toward the opponent’s goal, and there are no defenders between the player and the goalie other than the goaltender.
Infraction: -The player is brought down, tripped, pushed, or otherwise fouled illegally by an opponent. -The foul must occur before the player loses possession or the play is stopped.
Result: -If the referee determines the infraction denied a reasonable scoring chance, a penalty shot is awarded.
