  1. Cale Makar’s debut with the Colorado Avalanche was nothing short of legendary. Thrust into the intensity of the 2019 playoffs, he made an immediate impact—scoring on his very first shot, becoming the only defenseman to net a playoff goal in his debut. With his parents proudly watching from the stands, that electrifying moment marked the start of a remarkable career. It was instantly clear to all that a generational talent had arrived.

  2. All Hail Cale! Love watching him on my favorite team. I've been watching Nordiques/Avs hockey for over 30 years. Ozolinsh was fun to watch. Blake and Borque and Foote on the same team was pretty impressive as well. Makar is different. He is the second best forward on a team with a lot of really good forwards, and he plays DEFENSE! He scored in his first NHL game, on his 2nd or third shift, I believe. I played d a bit and love to watch him show mastery of this position and the game overall.

  3. I think his best footwork moment was against Vegas in that outdoor Tahoe game at the top of the blue line. Nothing came of it as far as scoring but I remember watching that over and over again.

  4. Complete package of a player. He also has depth vision from the blue line whereby his fakes and skating freezes the forward trying to stop his shot, but thise moves also control the action in the slot and pull players out of position or also freezes them; that's the depth vision. He sees what happening right in front of him and also in front of the net which is under his control.

  5. As an Avalanche fan who's watched most every NHL game that Makar has played, I can say with certainty that crowning Cale "the greatest defenseman to ever play" is many levels beyond ABSURD. Especially when those words are coming from an ex NHL player.

  6. Anyone who plays hockey at a decently high level, will really notice & appreciate his edge work. His Mohawks, Crossovers, stop/starts, etc. are absolutely unreal…he’s on a complete different level than anyone in the NHL, possibly anyone who’s ever been in the NHL.
