Matthews have never been the same since he went to germany a few years ago for a Head or neck/back issue I suspect a TBI, lasting from a concussion. and its now moved into more injuries probably from him not being as sharp or focused. It's a simple solution… Matthews should not play in the Olympics. he should willingly sit out to get healthy for his team but my guess is that will not happen. You can tell he is not the same player he was. He can't even take a one timer, which was his Deadliest weapon.

No heart and soul on this team. Rogers need to bring in Brian Burke or Lou Lamoriello to fix the teams heart. I don't think Treliving was the right GM candidate. I like Futa personally or even a guy like Zito or a guy like Evan Gold or Ryan Bowness. Leafs need to move on from its core and bring in selke type players to fit Berube's system. Trading Minten was a mistake when you needed to replace Tavares eventually.
Oleksiak, Sherwood & maybe Schenn depending on who you move could help the team.

both purely shine in regular season when nobody is taking it seriously. but in the playoffs, they fail to rise to the occasion
It’s wild that just a couple years ago people were comparing him to guys like McDavid, MacKinnon, Kucherov, and Draisaitl. At this point it seems clear he’s even been passed by Celebrini and Bedard.
