  1. Looks like the Leaf's let go the wrong superstar in Marner. Matthews instead of being a leader is pouting and not producing.

The reality is the Leaf's have zero draft prospects over the next couple of years. The hard decision is whether they go for a full rebuild or attempt a retool, i.e., fire Berube and shuffle deck chairs as HMS Leafs continues to sink.

If it is a rebuild, that means unloading roster players for prospects and draft picks, and no playoffs for the next 3–5 years.

  2. Not a coach problem, not a bottom 6 problem, been unlucky in the goaltending department….it's a core problem and the guy wearing the "C" is not playing like a guy who deserves to have it on his jersey.

  3. The never-ending analyses are more compelling than the Loafs actual on-ice exploits. As long as someone's being entertained, who cares?

  4. WE love that the leafs suck it's great if you live in Western Canada, we hope the leafs never win.

  5. LOVE it !!! Its great seeing all these leaf fans CRYING , paying all that money for over priced tickets.

  6. Has Berube lost the room? Does Matthews feel too much pressure, wearing the "C"? Why does the players show no urgency, heart, or accountability, to "WIN?" Does Keith Pelley (CEO-MLSE) have some huge decisions to make? Is change, quite evident and necessary? Time will tell!

  7. I told you jokers. This is them without Marner, but I'll give you that they miss Tanev, but that has no impact on their PP.

  8. It's no where near rock bottom for that team. I don't really watch a lot of Toronto games, but watching the Stars-Leafs game and hearing the casters making excuses for the players and saying that the effort they made was an improvement was kinda surprising. If what the Leafs were doing was an improvement on what they have been doing, that team is in a lot of trouble because they didn't look like they cared at all. The Stars looked horrible in that game compared to normal and what they did was still good enough to win that game 5-1.

I could sum up the Leafs effort in that game with one play. Matthews tries to take a shot, his stick breaks and he pretends like he is going to try to make a defensive effort, but then just stops and as casually as possible starts to head to the bench, not a care in the world that the Stars are headed in the opposite direction with a possible dangerous rush. Dallas didn't score on the play, but Matthews couldn't have cared less if they did, he had no urgency to get to the bench to either get a new stick, or get a new defender on the ice to try to get the game back in control.

The casters kept going on and on about the shot totals, but they really didn't seem to understand that it doesn't matter how many shots you take if you are not taking quality shots. Most of the shots the Leafs were taking were harmless and the Stars were content to let the Leafs take the easy shots that Otter really wouldn't have much of an issue with and the Leafs really didn't seem interested in fighting to get the puck into danger areas for the most part. They created a couple chances and Oettinger made some good stops, but for the most part it was just a routine game for him.

I don't think the Leafs have hit rock bottom yet because I don't think the consequences of their "couldn't care less culture" have happened yet. When the vets of your team don't really care about the team and are content to collect their pay checks, they make young players who are eager to do what they can to win not want to be there. It is also a deterrent to attracting big name free agents who are looking to go to a team that wants to win. You'll attract the free agents that are in the retirement stage of their career and just want to play out their last few years and collect their checks. Those guys will fit in really well with the current Leafs roster, but they won't help you win. But no, this is not rock bottom…when a bunch of players have left and the team is fighting for the 1st overall pick and no one wants to play for you…that will be rock bottom.

  9. Ok the first change is Berube and then we see what the new coach can do with these guys. Thats when you assess which players, with a more suited to this team coach, are the ones you want to keep or not. Its done in logical steps, and the coach is first, he makes stupid line up decisions and his style is not working well with this type of team.

  10. If you wanted to be pissed at the team you needed to be pissed last year when they failed again to go to the finals and yet they had a strong enough team on paper. So people wanted changes and everyone wanted to blame Marner. So they basically gave him away. I blamed Mathews and still look at him as an overpriced baby. The coach is next on the list

  11. As a former leaf fan NOT from Ontario I must say that anyone who chooses to be a leaf fan has to be nuts. They continue to underwhelm and over promise year after year much like the Ontario government in Ottawa. I loved the leaf's when Gilmour and Clark reigned supreme however they can't rise above mediocrity no matter how good the coach & players are or how much money they throw at a team. The fact is, most of us view the leaf's much like we view Ontario as a whole. As the central hub for Canadian governance, the Leaf's franchise live up to the IDIOTS in OTTAWA and can't organize much of anything of a winning nature especially under LIBTARD leadership. Maybe, Ontario will wake up, kick out the Libtards and quit wrecking Canada much the same way as they have ruined the Leaf's franchise. Really Ontario, WTFU, and quit re-electing Ford and the Libtards before the rest of Canada divorces you completely. Feckless Losers IMO.

  12. The governing center of Ontario is the problem. One could build a team of Mario, Gretzky, Coffee, Oar and the likes in their prime and the rulers in Ontario would find a way to shit the bed. It's not the team it's Ontario and the useless idiots that run the place. Really Ontario, you're stinking mess is effecting all of Canada now. WTFU IMO.
