The pp is why Dallas might be in trouble long term. They rely on the PP at 34% to stay in games. As you mentioned, penalties become less important in the grand scheme of things as you get later in the year and in the playoffs. Plus, if the Avs get home ice throughout, it's the best home ice advantage in the league.
As of last night before any games, MN is the 3rd best team in point in the NHL. Crazy how our division is. Hope we keep it up and Dal and CO start losing.
I haven't watched a ton of regular season hockey this year yet but I'm amped to get into things as we get closer to the playoffs. I wish I had more time, life gets in the way of sports way too often for me.
The Wild have a chance the do something insane with the pieces they have this year.
One thing not mentioned here is that the Wild had a ROUGH October (3-6-3 for 9pts!!) – fans were calling for Hynes to be fired. I have no idea what happened when the calendar changed to November but they seem to be the team we expected to see. Now Hughes is with them and I don't see any regression on the horizon unless injuries throw a wrench in things.

With Hughes the Wild will be very hard to beat. Unless a injury happens I expect the Wild to pass Dallas in the standings and possibly challenge Col. Col. has been lucky because none of their major players have suffered any serious injury yet. It's just a matter of time before someone gets inured and then they will start losing more. Whereas the Wild almost everyone has been injured and they still win.

And in the playoffs it doesn't matter at all because of the stupid seeding. These teams will beat the breaks off eachother, get tired, get injured, then the oilers, in a much weaker division, will be wiping the floor with a 1/3 AHL team in round 3 like the last 2 years…

I'd like to see your analysis of defensemen based on their defensive abilities. Can they shut down opponents best forwards? Do they rule the front of their own net? Do they make the correct decisions? How well do they move the puck out of their own zone? Can they QB the power play etc.
It's a crime that only 1 of those 3 teams will make the WCF. Revert the dumb playoff setup. If you want division rivals then award division winners with the top seeds, then it's 3-8 from there. It might be even better to create 3 divisions per conference, then seeds 4-8 go by record.
12:11 absolutely true. I'm a panthers fan first but also a wild fan, and I think this year could be different. Last year we saw the abilities of Kaprizov and Boldy in the first round and they put up a solid fight against Vegas. Although Fleury is an all time great, it was his last season and so other than Gus the Wild really didn't have a goaltender that could take on a game to give him a break and be confident that the game could be won. Wally will have to continue the play that he's shown so far which I don't doubt he can do. Additionally, a lot of younger guys are starting to develop. Hartman and Johansson look much better than last year. Plus, Quinn Hughes. If the young guys can shake off the nerves and play sound hockey then the Wild could be a much different team compared to the last (sigh) 10 years.
Sucks that the format is stupid two of these three teams should meet in the WCF
Considering all odds Bill Guerin showed some balls and is making wonders with Minny at the moment. Hard not to vouch for that team!
Avs fan hereā¦ cannot wait to run into Dallas in the playoffs this year.
One thing about these 3 teams..
They all have 2 good goalies.
2 of these teams having to play in round 1 is a disgusting fate.
