Rodrigues tripping on Jarvis – Tough Call Recommendation

Evan Rodrigues got away with a blatant trip on Seth Jarvis.

  1. I think its worth mentioning as well that Rod's head is following the puck, like its very unfortunate and a fine could still be in order but I don't fully agree that Rod is even intending to trip Jarvis so much as he missed the puck and then was watching it go forward without reacting again towards it. There were quite a few missed calls or even odd calls last night, though. Officiating seemed to be very off all around

  2. Its a very reckeless play by Rodrigues … he's not getting stick on puck or even trying for stick on stick, he's swinging/hacking his stick "wildly" at the puck and legs of Jarvis. If you're looking to play defense on that play you're going to go body or get your stick out onto the puck way earlier. Even if he gets the puck there, he's taking out Jarvis with the follow through.

  3. I don’t see how fines lower than 50k dollars would even make players on those salaries blink an eye. They seem useless as deterrents / punishments to me.
Also curious, What should the in game call for the penalty have been ?
