Blake’s 200 meter race in the 2011 Brussels diamond league final will forever go down as one of the greatest and most underrated races in history.

Lyles’ fastest closing 100m in a 200m race is 9.16, but you stated 9.24. Lyles has the second fastest closing 100m in history.
He was my fav sprinter and still is
Yep, this was what I have considered the greatest 200m run of all time. When I saw his finishing time I couldnt believe it because his start was so bad. Whenever anyone asks me who the fastest recorded runner in the 200m is I always say Yohan Blake, and mention this exact race. I do however give Bolt all his roses because the man put it ALL together to nail that 19.19
Hmmm… none of that is suspicious. 😮
3:27 his late start was the reason he won and set that time because he knew he got a bad start and his adrenaline kicked in. I can't think of her name but a girl fell and still won the race and the same would be attributed to the adrenaline surge. Something that can't be planned for ¿`_
Bolt's 200m was the greatest. He ran pretty well in the first 100m and very well in closing 200m. He execution was flawless and he ran a near perfect race. That is why he did not need to ran as fast as Blake did in the closing 100m.
I've been ridiculed for calling out the 1899 since it happened. Blake coming off of that corner looked like he was shot out of a cannon …. They've got to bring the Adidas Tech Fit Powerweb suits back ..
If not for injuries, Blake would have been the best
Це все гіпотези.
Never say never, with enough time all past human feats can be surpassed.
Usain Bolt was always consistent … There was always a feelimg that he could break his own record.
Everyone else feels like depending on too many variables to get the result.
Good video❤
Blake is a great athlete, but he was at his peak at the wrong era.😂
A couple of things:
1. Reacting fast is part of the game. Just like getting a good plank is a part of being a good long jumper
2. Blake had better wind than Bolt. Blake (19.26) had a tailwind of 0.7m/s. Bolt (19.19.) had a headwind of 0.3m/s. And in his 19.30 race he had a headwind of 0.9m/s
3. When Bolt did his 19.19 and 19.30 he had ran the 100m and heats and semi-finals in the 200m (both were in championships races) so he wasn't on 100% fresh legs. Blake's 19.26 was in a DL race, so no qualifying there.
Blake was phenomenal athlete. But there are many factors that needs to be taken into account.
What would be cool to see is a 4 way split screen of the closing 100, started at the same point on the track of the best closing 100m's to see Blake's performance
9:15. What's with those nails?
probably about the 50th video you've made on this race with the same content and template
Though certainly a magnifcent performamce, especially the close,, one could argue that Bolt's two fasstest races came after several rounds at championship meets and were run into headwinds, whereas Blake's wasn't.
We going to do this again without mentioning the ludicrously large and barely legal turn radius of the Brussels track? Ok 😅 We know the impact on both the first and second 100m of having such an open turn radius. Can run the first 100 faster much more easily with less effort enabling faster second 100's. Before everyone who knows absolutely zero about this track, lane 1 is the same as running in lane 5 on a normal regulation track. Lane 7 is like running in a make believe lane 14. Just think about that for a minute. I'm only amazed that Lyle's hasn't figured it out to go and try to break the record there.
you posted 9.09? noone has ever run that haven't watched the full vid yet but that's a little clockbaity to anyone who doesn't know that 9.09 smashed the 100 meter world record which is obviously half the distance of 200 meters.
The thing about Usain Bolt's records is that he was always way too far ahead of everyone else, so he was never going at 100% speed by the end of the race.
Blake absolute GOAT, his shape in 2010-2012 was bomb!
9.09 factorial😂😂😂
That second 100 destroyed Dix emotionally. He never competed with same confidence following that race.
Too many ifs. In real life ifs are just that. You over analyze every run. Theory does not win a race. Effort and training do.
I remember when Michael Johnson ran in those gold shoes. I thought it was extreme arrogance at the time, but now I understand that it was confidence in himself. It would have been a little awkward if he didn’t win both gold medals 🥇
I actually have some inside information on Sydney M-L. A family friend of mine was her neighbor in New Jersey when she was growing up and the two families are real close. Sydney was visiting her parents recently and two families had dinner together. Anyway, she told them that she was planning on running the 200m at the 2028 Olympics. As you might have heard, the two events she had planned on running were the 400m hurdles and the flat 400m, but the semifinal of one race is only an hour before the final of the other. Runners can easily get hurt running in two different events that are scheduled too close together. The Olympics are a long way off still so maybe they’ll adjust the schedule for her; after all, the Olympics are in LA and she’s one of the most popular track star in the world, but maybe they won’t. If they don’t, we likely will see her start concentrating on the 200m. It’s one distance that she has yet to best her opponents, like Gabby Thomas and Jefferson.
No mention of the different bend radius in Brussels???? Seems like i do know more than you about the 19.26 race….. The reality is that the Brussels track that Yohan ran the 19.26 on has a much smoother bend radius than ALL the other tighter radius pro meet tracks it shouldn't be a verifiable world record track for this reason. The 19.26 was a great run but look at Dix and the other guys, they weren't that far back for a 19.26 and all ran very fast… then look at those same guys compared to Bolts 2011 win at the worlds, much further back. The time is not a fair comparison with timed races on other tracks.
Gonna take a wild guess which race this was: yohan’s 19.26 where he ran the fastest time ever, but had bad reaction to slow it down to 19.26
The Rolling 100m should be an event.
Start whereever you want on the track – and only the final 100m counts.
Do this event like a field event – one at a time.
You'll get runners breaking 9 seconds – would be a joy to watch.
Come on now!!
WHY DID HE GET INJURED😭
greatest 200m race is the fastest 200m race which is bolt…rhetorical af question
He got injured because he was using too much energy to see that he can over come bolt which was not possible
Yeah let's celebrate a guy who was caught cheating and received a ban from the sport for taking perfomance enhancing drugs. Sprinters have been allowed to cheat in this controlled and fixed sport for many decades.
didnt Yohan Blake get caught doping, he took the stimulant 4-methyl-2-hexanamine. Correct me if I'm wrong
Keep believing in fairy tales. PEDS work. Never breaking 20 seconds and then beating it by 3/4 of a second. Lmao. Highly suspicious. I don't think many non runners know how big of a difference that is in the 200. I don't want to hear fast start, great advice, adrenaline, or all the other rationizations. At this level, there is only one way to achieve such noticeable improvements.
A record to never come
