Yea pretty sure the negotiations with McDavid are just handing him a pen and asking him to name his price
him taking less doesn't mean Edmonton will win so McDavid should be paid what he's worth and if he's the best then he should be paid the best
Doesn't matter what anyone makes. McDavid should be playing 2 leagues above the NHL. If McDavid goes to July 1st, 32 teams would offer him max X max and be thrilled to sign him to that blank check.
The league should have a pool of money that all teams have to contribute to, to be able to pay the best player in the league since he fills stadiums and sells media watching games he is in.
There are very, very few players in the league that are that good
No player is worth more than 14 million a year if he wants a competitive team to win the Stanley cup. If not, he's just a greedy bastard and doesn't care about his team only himself.
I honestly don't think that McDavid gives a shit about the money. He genuinely wants to win. He doesn't want to piss off the NHLPA by taking too little and effecting the market, but he would take 12 if it meant they could sign another guy to help them win.
