Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak have been shipped to Pittsburgh for Tristan Jarry and Sam Poulin of the Penguins. Pittsburgh also received a 2029 second-rounder in the move. Does this trade stabilize the Oilers’ goaltending? What does this move mean for Edmonton’s playoff window? Is it a blunder to send Kulak and Skinner out for an older, more expensive goalie?
Hernan Salas and Joaquin Gage spend the entire show discussing the monumental move, diving into the numbers and contracts for each player moving to and from Edmonton. The Oilers also made a smaller move, acquiring Spencer Stastney from the Nashville Predators for a third-round pick in 2027.
Hernan and Joaquin head to Pittsburgh and Nashville to hear from a couple of people on the beat for both the Pens and Preds. Taylor Haase from DK Pittsburgh Sports is our first guest on the program. She shares her thoughts on the trade, Skinner’s fit in the black and yellow, while sharing some insight into Jarry’s recent years down south. After that, Alex Daugherty from The Tennessean phones the boys to talk about Spencer Stastney, his playstyle, what he brings to the ice each day and how he carved a spot for himself in Nashville.
Plus, Zach Hyman potted the hat trick last night to steer the Edmonton Oilers to a convincing 4-1 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings! That puts a cap on Edmonton’s five-game homestand, wrapping things up with a 3-1-1 record as they get set to head East to play a back-to-back Saturday and Sunday. Hernan and Joaquin recap the action that went down from Rogers Place last night, while setting the table for the Oilers’ next games against the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens.

I think this goalie trade is good for edmonton. I also thought kulak was decent but I always wanted an upgrade. More grit and cheaper. Of w could package Eberson with a forward for a gritty 3rd liner
