1st: 50/50 shot and one you'd expect a guy making #1 money to make more than 50% of the time 2nd: Everyone on the ice is to blame. They made the same play twice and Gibby let it go in b/c he fell to his knees instead of staying up right 3rd: Bad play by the team, yes. However, more positioning issues. Gibby goes to his knees … again. 4th: Bad D play, but again Gibby should've had it. Deep in his net making the side to side movement much faster. Back on his knees again before the shot is taken … again. 5th: I would've prefered one of the D take him out with a good hit, but this was another goal he should've had.
What's happening is just as much on Gibby as it is on the team. Yes, there were bad plays by the team. The team also tends to play differently in front of Gibby. Not as confident and tends to play paniced if a puck gets past them and on the way to Gibby. Gibby needs to step up. Dude makes #1 money and is supposed to be the guy. While everyone has bad games, it's happening more often than not with him. Don't get me wrong. I've seen the team let him down in a few games, leaving him out to dry. This game was a bad performance from everyone on the ice, Including Gibby.
Should've saved #'s 1, 3, and 5. There's a reason he's carrying a -4 goals saved above expected this year. Hes not been good aside from a couple games with the wings
Goals 2 and 3 were deflections. You can’t expect any goalie to stop those. It’s rare to have two bad bounces in a game like that. But 1 and 5 you can get saves there sometimes. 4 was a good shot. He played the odds but it snuck in short side.
I’d have to see all the other saves he made in the game before I blame him. Also, what goals was Detroit scoring here?…

one for one gibson for skinner
Red Wings gameplan when Gibson is in net:
Sloppy pass
Turnover
Missed assignment
Redirect
Puck in net
Rinse and repeat.
