Avalanche Hang 8 on the Devils. Power Play Wakes Up. Olofsson Goes Off For Hat Tricks & 5 Points
The Colorado Avalanche went off for eight goals against the New Jersey Devils, who made it interesting in the 2nd period. The Avs held a 5-0 lead and in the blink of an eye the Devils cut that lead to 5-4.
With a power play that finally woke up, the Avalanche held firm and finished with an 8-4 win while getting five points from Victor Olofsson, who also netted his first career hat trick.

Insane game! 🤯 glad to see the dam on the power play finally break! I also wanted to throw a pick up for Shaggy for the same reason. I settled on another prior Shaggy pick.

This hurts to say this…..moving landy down to the 3rd line and bringing Colton up….this is the correct lineup 😭😭😭😭 at least for now! And not because of the 4 pp goals but that is also the correct PP1. Val needed to be PP1 and the greatest strength of Ollie is his shot. Now you have 5 PP1 guys who no matter has the puck, is absolutely dangerous. We aren’t gonna go 4/6 every game but we can slowly get our pp% to 20-25% If we had this pp1 lineup from the start of the season we might be undefeated 🤷🏼

There were a lot of Devils fans behind me in the stands and they were getting very rowdy after that fourth goal. Way to turn it into an anxiety attack, Avs! That sixth goal was such a relief. All those power play goals were a damn joy to behold. Four-minute lapse in defense notwithstanding, this was an awesome game. I pray this means the power play has been unlocked and the last area of concern is no longer a worry.
PP one-time goals from the right circle: under blocker, between pads, & over blocker. Gotta love it!
3 things for me:
2 of the 4 goals against were just bad defense when you have a lead like that, and the other 2 were just players making great plays.
Love the aggressive shooting on the powerplay, and the results were fantastic.
Hopefully Bednar doesn't do blackwood dirty like the devils did markstrom. Pick the right game to get him going
What a game to finally see "live" on the telly except that I cheaped out and have ESPN with ads and that dang delay folks have mentioned-UGH! Heading to Vegas for Friday's game, proudly wasting my very first Avs jersey (ty Catie & Trevor!) and hoping my #8 will not invoke any home fan rudeness – fingers-crossed. (Kraken fans here are totally cool but it's weird to be one of the few jumping up and down when the Avs score at Climate Pledge , lol.)

For everyone talking about the avs taking the foot off the gas…. of course they did, and they should have. It is a long season, and they were up by 5. The real goal should have been to not be too aggressive on the defense while not giving up odd man rushes. Manson on the aggressive pinch is an example of what they didnt need to be doing, i believe it was on the last goal against. Can't control players making great plays like the Hamilton goal
Very good game – one of the best games I've seen in person. Doubling up a team that's tied for most points in the league, even when they score 4 goals, is beyond impressive. Hats off to a great experience at Ball Arena.
