Despite a valiant effort by Calvin Pickard, the Minnesota Wild were too much for him and the rest of the Oilers to handle in today’s matinee. The Oilers head home to face the Golden Knights tomorrow after going 3-2-0 on their 5-game road trip. You know what? I’ll take it. Here’s tonight’s Fan Reaction! #oilers #edmontonoilers #nhl

At least we dont have to live through pickard as our starter for long 🤮🤮🤮🤮
I honestly just hate the wild lol
Thought ‘ooh has Austin posted his post game yet?’, checked and there it is posted 15 seconds ago. Nice.
Solid enough game for Pickard. He has to come through for us right now, rooting for him
I thought the boys played pretty well, all things considering. Refs were.. reffing. Picks had some pretty good saves. Need to lock in at the ends of periods. Was nice seing Mangiapane get a goal, and Davo continues to be on a tear.
I don't blame pickles on this loss he played pretty good, dumb turnover by Bouchard's glove, I did enjoy watching Hughes getting smashed
I honestly thought Picks played well today
Minnesota is my sleeper pick to win the cup
I thought we played pretty decent, gustavson stole that game. Overall I thought picks played well too, he made some huge saves and kept us in it. Leo had so many close chances but just didn’t get the puck luck.
I love Leon, but holy shit I’m surprised that people aren’t talking about the amount of giveaways He does every single game!!! He keeps trying to be cute with his passes. Passes are amazing when he makes them, but the amount of giveaways is ridiculous! Ahhhh
Anyways, wasn’t an awful game at all by the Oilers at least they didn’t give up. Hope they kick ass tomorrow. I’m gonna be sad seeing them play against our grizzled veteran corey perry tomorrow lol
Dude, love that Cap AUSTIN
Sadly i hope we can squeeze into the playoffs while never winning 3 in a row
The wild, Dallas and Colorado are really really good. This is bad news
2 things. 1 we should be trading for Jonathan Quick.
2. I cannot believe Knobber used to coach in the minors since he refuses to play anyone younger than 27 years old
I disagree with you Austin lol. 17 blocked shots, how many goal posts? Oilers could have easily won. The fire from Jarry is still burning. Picks was as good as he could be.
The coach is the problem now. Frederick? No minutes for the hot young guys, terrible.
SCHEDULED LOSS FELLAS
Scheduled loss. Most teams are losing to Minnesota anyways. We played well tonight all things considered. Weve slowly been improving.
Coming out of the West is gonna be tougggggh
After they celebrated in front Skinner like that, they deserve every bad thing that comes their way.
The line changes are baffling….
WHAT IF CALVIN PICKARD AND IMGRAM GETS INJURED WHAT WILL HAPPEN WILL STU COME IN
Good game, every time McDavid or Draisital has the puck its insanely scary to watch us defend
Oilers were giving, losing the puck too much. Bouchard was doing Bouchard things again 😮 Pickard wasn't that good . Oilers defensive game was spoty. The players aren't in sync defensively. Too spread apart . Watch that supposed less talented team the Calgary Flames. Flames support one another on the forcheck and forwards rush back and pinch in defensively like a fort under security. Flames coaching has improved as the Oilers is worsening. The BOWMAN,JACKSON AND KNOBLAUCH CURSE HAS GRIPPED IN FOR THE UNFORSEEABLE FUTURE…
It could be worse, they could be the Leafs. Thats what I came up with tonight
Holy Wilds! The Oilers got spilled up again. And VGK team will taking care tomorrow knight to takedown the Oilers. Go Knights go, Austin!
For several moments of the game I liked how some of the players performed. That said, I feel the Wild did very well on their forecheck, they were aggresive in that category of their game, and it was not easy for the Oilers to get the puck out of their zone at times… Oh, and I consider Picks had a decent game after all. He did some great saves.
Stu let in a few bad goals
We were dominated 5 on 5 xG and that's what worries me more
i wanna look at the wins, 3/5 on the road aint bad. and the teams who beat us are super good.
The Oilers just need to go on a good run after the New Year. No need to work too hard now. Good strategy to save some energy now.
Burchard again the reason for couple of goals against. Pathetic mistakes
As soon as that 3rd goal went in, I knew it was over
just another game where "another" goalie and "another" defense was better)) where Clumsy Ekholm and others made costly turn overs🤪
"The team in front of C.Pickard wasn't good enough"
What are you talking about? Draisaitl almost single handedly sunk them with his buffoonish decision making in the game, they didn't have as many blocked shots as MIN because they did an adequate job of shutting off lanes and not allowing MIN to get to the front of the net.
They managed to keep the game 3-2 for more than 20 minutes, that was through team commitment to defense. The game was a lot closer than the shot totals indicate. MIN was lucky to win that game, Draisaitl was their best player.
39 games and Frederic has 2 goals one assist and a minus 9, very unacceptable, seriously Pickard did play well he will make initial 1 to 2 stops and bang in the net , where are these defenseman , simple fact is Oilers in their end have terrible defense, they lose many of their defensive end battles and their passing in their end are not made with thinking it seems. Two defenseman just making over 20 million as defenseman, Oilers have more than enough scoring power up front, we need solid defenseman that play like a lion in their end, when Oilers need 6 or 7 goals to win most games then, Houston we have a serious problem, its as the saying goes with the Oilers, the defenseman are the pink elephant in the room, no one wants to address it or take notice. So frustrating!
I would guess that what knobs is doing with Savoie is preparing for a Roslovik return. I think as good as Savoie has been, Roslovik was an even better match for Draisitle and Podkolzin. I wish Mcdavid could perform with someone like Savoie so they could keep him top 6, but who knows maybe Roslovik will be the one to play on the third line and they go back to what they've done the past few games.
never blame the officiating, the Oilers HAVE to overcome any officiating that is either good, bad or indifferent.
5:58😂 Smooth and laid back torch session on that ref. Love it man!!!!
Wild 5 mcjesus/scumsaitil 2🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This year the team is having another step back. Go to puckpedia and look at the cap situation next year. Dire. Step back last year. Step back this year. Next year not enough cap to improve and could be even a step back from this year. So as an Oiler are we going to waste McDavid's prime going no where or do we give him a much better shot elsewhere? I prefer to move McDavid to Minnesota or Colorado. Grab some picks and prospects. The way this year is going is not a surprise. Those in the hockey know figured the odds were they would take a step back this year. Perry and Brown saw the writing on the wall and exited.
I’m a wild fan, (and a McDavid fan) and the oilers didn’t make it easy tonight. First half of the second had me really worried when they really had MN on their heels. Really gotta get their goaltending squared away though in Edmonton.
Wild could be the best in the league right now, they did a fantastic job of clogging the slot and blocking shots, 21. Stillman had a poor effort on the weak side help on the Hartman goal and coasted back, same with bouch weak side in the Boldy breakaway. Awareness wasn’t good from weak side with the speed and skill of that team. You can’t count on O zone keeps just gotta be cautious and play the next play. Once Walman and Roslovic get healthy Jarry comes back Oil will hit their stride but too many free ones for the wild. 2 of those goals were preventable pretty easily with awareness
Way too lenient on Leon. Both he and Bouchard are very similar in that they can be all-world when they care, but they have so many mental gaffes that just put the Oilers behind. Leon was directly or indirectly responsible for 3 of the 4 Wild goals. 1) Taking the stupid double minor to try and deliver dirty cross checks to Brodin five minutes into the game, 2) turning the puck over and not attempting to back check and make up for it on goal 3, and 3) literally watching goal 4 when he could’ve easily engaged Tarasenko or swept the puck out of the crease. That’s not to mention him tackling Spurgeon for no reason or the elbow to Hughes, both of which went uncalled.
