The Canucks don’t have the firepower up front to compete with the top teams in the league.

  1. May I say how much I hate the current NHL draft set up. It forces teams to actively suck and still compete for 1 or 2 players. Then repeat that for another year before trying. They need to throw the bottom 7 teams into an even outcome lottery to remove the necessity to ice a horrible team.

  2. What do all Stanley Cup Champion teams have in common? Nope not so called elite players. They all have no players making over $10 million against the cap. Florida has not had a 100 point player, so you have to define your terms. McKinnon was only making 5.5 mill when the Avs won the cup. I figured that out way over ten years ago from looking into the Crosby and Malkin contracts. Edmonton had the #1 and #2 players in the league for many years and has never won the cup. Trading Quinn Hughes has another benefit, the Canucks are not going to have to come up with 12-14 million against the cap in two years time, and that is great in my view. The Avs if it is every going to happen will be the first team to win the cup with a player making over 10 million the way they are going this year, but i am sticking to my theory until some team proves it wrong. With the cap going up i should refine my theory to a % of the cap, which i may do later.

  3. Yeah but if there’s a large gap, taking an elite defender is a great bargaining chip to add to a trade for an elite forward… JS 🤷‍♂️

  4. what you talking about They got Tkachuk and Reinhart through trade and FA Over two three year period they got all of them ONly Barkov was original
