I expect Beck/Davidson and Engstrom to be sent down (especially if Matheson will be playing this weekend) to make the cap work. Wild move. Do you like the trade?
"Legend"?
This guy's got 5 more points than my grandma.
I don't know if fans realize this but having all the defensive centers in the world still doesn't fix the mess on defense. It's as if management will do anything EXCEPT deal with the source of the problem which is poor defensive coaching.
Can't wait for his first goal back at the Bell Centre. Wanna hear that roof come off!?!?!?
great move from kent here easily top ten defensive forward in the league I think Montreal will add but also I think that there is a center getting moved out of Montreal he's a middle six player great add
Beck & Davidson = $1.715,833 in cap space. Send them back to Laval, you are back to 22 players and $368000 under cap
This takes pressure and time off of Suzuki having to play on PK2 with injuries.
Newhook, Dach, Laine, & Guile, are all on IR, not LTIR, their contracts are still counting against the cap, so there is no money coming back on the cap when they return….their cap hits are currently still counting.
Realistically, if they wanted to give themselves room, they could put Laine on LTIR and get his contract off cap.
Plan the parade route
Danault is also a stud in the playoffs. Great pick.
Dump Veleno, Laine, Dach and Monty and pull in a solid backup tender, a solid D-man and we’re set for the playoffs
More of the same…5.5 mil for what? Beck is as good on face offs, is young hungry and needs ice time. Danault, Veleno, Gally, Evans are all in the way of young developing players, wrong side of 30. This a step backwards. No one in the league wanted this guy…nice hype spin on a guy on his way to Europe. Stupid move!
That's a horrible overpayment, I don't know what you are talking about man. A 2nd round pick for a guy that we don't need and on a shit expensive contract smh
A bad deal.
They better be looking to flip him, that's all I have to say. Garbage trade
That guys contract for a 4th line center who isn't even very good in the faceoff c'mon man. They were just fine getting some of these young guys into the lineup
Idk , kappanin developing nicely , hope this dont slow down his development. A 2nd in this yrs draft is as good as a 1st in last years draft. Whats next? Kokanemi?
Is the objective to rebuild or to make it to the conference final this season?
I thought the goal was to play the kids now so they would be ready to contend in the next couple of years, by which time Anderson and Gally's contracts would be off the books. Now they added an equivalent contract that will displace one of the kids and may reduce the number of players we can keep on the roster to stay under the cap.
Dach, a sort of center, is returning in a week or two and Guhle is returning in January. So who goes?
Owen Beck: 7 games, +2, 64% face-off wins, could have 2 goals, 200 lbs, 21 years old. Is getting less than 10 minutes per game, should be playing more. I don't think he should be in Laval. I'd rather have him at center than Dach.
I'd rather have Texier at wing than Dach.
Kapanen is only 47.7% in the dot but still better than Dach at 43%. He also is more responsible defensively than Dach.
Davidson is going down.
Veleno has been improving but may be waived.
Don't want Engstrom sent down when Guhle returns, if we want to win. Probably means Struble will be traded.
No one is going to take Laine off of our hands after being out for most of the season.
My guess is that they will package Dach and Struble for a couple of 2nd round picks so they can free up enough cap before Newhook returns.
Is it possible that Danault gets us 3 – 5 more wins this season? Yes, but Guhle returning will do that. I'm not sure how this trade makes the team better in the long run if it prevents the kids from getting experience now and next season.
This coming draft is really deep and look at what we have been drafting lately in the 2nd round. That's very expensive, not even counting his contract smh
PK and can win faceoffs. That’s all we need right now – neither Kapanen or Beck should be taking important faceoffs. And they’re all righties.
For christ sake, we don't need goal anymore…
We need shutdown players, veterans that can run down the clock and play on the PK.
Talking about points, you can expect Suzuki to get more offense since he will be off the PK.
I like to see PD back with the Habs. Let him play with Galley
3 wayyyeh
Josh is so passionate, i have to put the video on .75x speed
Bringing Danault back to Montreal would've been a Smart Move , if Montreal had a coach that knew how to utilize his talents to this team's advantage. Marty St. Louis is not that type of coach. Nothing against Marty, as he has brought this very young team 'up to speed' offensively. But that is where his skillsets end. This team is in dire need of a real coach now (like a Claude Julien) , one that sees the game both offensively and defensively , to move this team forward.
To be honest he should of never left, you guys forget how strong he is defensively, I didn't forget and don't expect him to score goals he's a defensive specialist.
Phillip Danault has averaged faceoff win percentage of 52.9 this season.
How many times this year the other team was coming back after we took the lead because our young guys were panicking. Danault will be our shutdown guy when we take the lead.
I'm glad we found a veteran defensive forward with great Faceoff assets. However I don't see where he'll fit, probably on the 4rth line? Or maybeake a new 3rd with Texier Danault and Gally? I wouldn't split Evans amd Anderson.
Anyway I think Mtl is the best place for Danault to "relancer" (get him back on track?) himself .
Anderson Danault Gallagher?
