Jarmo Kekäläinen is as good of a GM as the Buffalo Sabres could have asked for
The Buffalo Sabres got their GM in waiting in the boat when they brought Jarmo Kekäläinen in last spring, and it has resulted in a GM that has as good a background as the Sabres could have asked for. A deep dive into Jarmo’s career in Columbus and St. Louis shows a great talent evaluator that drafted a contending team with the Blues, and then the Blue Jackets. Also, an aggressive trader that acquired the likes of Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene, and Seth Jones. And someone that shocked the NHL world when he signed Johnny Gaudreau to Columbus in free agency.
Should we expect Jarmo to replicate that in Buffalo, but with better season results? Plus, where we stand with whether Lindy Ruff will stay as head coach, and why Joe is thinking Peyton Krebs and Jack Quinn could be moved soon.

For now.. he said the right things in his short press conference
Get rid of Eric Staal. He never wanted to be in Buffalo and only came because GMKA needed a friend.
If jarmo is serious, start using Quinn Krebs Rosen Helenius Johnson UPL Levi and power as trade chips rn, maybe even the first rounder this or next year
Add Power to that at risk list
Damn to get rid of Benson would be bad? There gonna move Benny I see it coming, are we in for a rebuild or is this a shot at the playoffs the Sabre drama continues hey I'm here let's see what whatever this guy's name is takes us
Benson was rushed, should have gone through the process w world juniors than AHL. The defense is set w Keserling returning & in net w Lyon. What does the organization show for talent when they had recent years of 1st rounders (Powers 1st overall)
I think its time Owen powers should be on the trade block hes not getting enough done "there could be goal scorer return for Owen!" I think to Jack Quinn sticks around until the price is right Quinn was a solid goal scorer they need to squueze more value or poetintial out of him😆😆Jarmo will get these guys producing who will be trade bait # 68 🥶🥶LMFAO!" This Organzation shake up is what the Buffalo Sabres need holdiay motivation & lists of teams they would like to traded too 🤭
Not everyone wants palm trees some people love northern hockey towns like buffalo
The Media can just say anything without any consequences.. Joe: "Jarmo is the best"…. Maybe you make that statement AFTER the Sabres win a couple rounds in the playoffs Joe. But EVEN IF he does with this Core, which IS a good core.. Adams will still get most of the Credit 💳 Obviously, as the Lord 🙏 of the K-RING, in the service of the Emperor, will support Jarmo, understand though while Adams progress may have been slow, this current team that he put together, when healthy.. can compete with almost any team in the league.. even COL 👍 🏒 💯 ⚔️
19:33 no. Chicago couldn’t afford Panarin. They were already in cap hell by years before they got to that point
I agree with most of what you discussed. It feels like there could be an actual adult in charge for the first time in a long time.
Having said that, the roster is flawed in several ways and could take years to straighten out.
I wouldn’t get rid of Quinn before Benson. I absolutely believe he was rushed up. His skating hasn’t gotten any better and he has no confidence in his shot. Constantly knocked off feet and how many goals got taken away this year because he was pushed in the crease (goalie interference)? I have no clue what some are seeing.
Jarmo is not the answer. What did he ever accomplish at Columbus?!?! And good luck with this bunch of underachieving slackers. It will start with a loss Thursday night. The loser / slackers will show Jarmo just who is in charge, and it's not him! The figure skating parties will continue!
Lindy is in the last year of his contract. There's a lot of hockey left 🏒 and if they win 4 in a row, tomorrow, u change coaches? To introduce new offensive and defensive systems at this point of the season and not having your goaltending situation settled is questionable.
Thanks to Pegula finally doing something right..This decision has brought me back as a fan of the team
