As you note…Problem being what superstars are still available… pickings are as bare as the shelves in a Socialist government run supermarket.
I’m afraid it’s time for another rebuild and it’s obvious Drury isn’t the best option to do it. Why bother getting superstar/s?
All the Superstars got extensions now that the cap has gone up. Only Connor agreed on a two year extension. He's clearly not happy in Edmonton. So I do expect him to request a trade, some time next season if they can't seriously address there defensive/goaltending issues. Jarry is slightly better then Skinner and they took on more cap, just to add him. They trying to get Binnington from the Blues and were in talks with them and all of a sudden, they went with Jarry and the Pens only agree to trade him, if the Oilers ate his full 5.3 million dollar cap hit. My point being, Connor will be probably hitting the market sooner then expect if the Oilers can't address those issues. Problem is, they have no cap space to work with. So it's worth keeping an eye on the Connor McDavid situation in Edmonton. Do I think the Rangers could get him? Maybe, if they made Igor the major piece, probably another defensemen. Even then I just don't see the Rangers having enough pieces to acquire any superstar. If they do somehow pull it off, they'd lose another one, maybe two of there good prospects. So it's just not worth it.
If we don’t throw in the towel on this team soon we are going to enter a Detroit Red Wings level rebuild. We may already be locked into that, it’s going to be a rough next few seasons
We don’t want Drury as a GM to make anymore trades for the NY Rangers.

One guy does not a team make, even if he is a superstar. Jeff Gorton & Gordie Clarke ruined the Rangers with terrible drafts & horrible trades. Drury is continuing the tradition by trying to win the Cup with rentals for a few years & trading away valuable draft picks like 1st & 2nd rounders. Last year it was dreadful defense. This year it is dreadful offense. The first rounders Rangers drafted are stuck playing on an equally bad team in Hartford where they will stagnate. I thought the Rangers would be much better under Sullivan, but so far that is not the case. This team is pressured & robotic, while Sullivan plays line scramble & just keeps the same spare parts playing over & over. I loved the line of Cullye-Laba-Lafreniere, then he breaks it up. Mika & Miller get different line mates & play center or wing without a permanent structure. It's a mess.

I just feel no one has interest in playing for chris drury, becuase of the way hes handled players in the past. No top players will come here, its gotta be a rebuild. Need a different gm.
