The Habs essentially gave away one draft pick and heineman for Dobson. That other pick was gravy from the flames. Not a huge amount when factoring in a weak draft class as well. Consider this a massive win for them IMO.
My prediction. By end of bext year it will be Hudson – Reinbacher and Ghule – Dobson

They already have the studs to pair with Hutson and Dobson. Reinbacher with Hutson, Guhle with Dobson. Throw in Xhekaj with Mailloux and, good god that looks fun.
The picks mean a lot less to Montreal, we do not need 2 more prospects we already have the number 3 overall prospect pool.
stud defenseman is strong for Dobson – his highest ceiling is stud – he is not a stud now – i say this as someone who has watched 90% of his career NHL games. big body, doesn't use it. RH shot with good offensive instincts… cannot run a PP to save his life. you do not want him anywhere near his own zone when the game is on the line.
If they traded the 16th and 17th pick, they could not get something below the 10th. Montreal has tons of picks. Let's not forget Reinbacher.

Sounds like he and Roy don't like each other. Betting he bounces back and beats the 70 points he had 2 years ago. Habs have lots of prospects. You can only have 50 under contract. Lots of guys can step in and replace Heinamen. The team wants to compete now. So the 2 mid 1st round picks are 4 years off from being ready.
I'm an Islander fan, and I like Dobson, but saying you're buying low on Dobson at 9.5 mil/ year is not believable. That's why the Isles passed, the price was too high, and over-inflated. I absolutely wish Dobson the best, but I think the Isles scored big here as far as their team/future is concerned, and I'm excited for the future. That's a bit rare for an Islanders fan, lol.
Not just a player, a core 1st pairing RD for 8 years, he changes the whole team, their options with prospects, trades, pairings and goaltender protection. One giant step for Habkind!

This will be the best D core in the League imo. These pairings should be well balanced too.
this gives montreal a lot of options on defense in terms of pairing. They’ll experiment to see where everybody fits but my ideal top 4 for the future of this team is Hutson, Dobson, Guble, Reinbacher. and right now it will probably be Hutson, Dobson, Guhle, Matheson to start the season.
I wasn't sure what to think when I 1st heard of the trade. Two 1sts + Heineman sounds like a lot. However, Dobson is a really good rhd and those are rare, he's a proven NHLer that's ready right now and about to enter his prime. I'm going to miss Heineman, he seems like he'll have a really good career.

IMO Dobson did not like to play for Roy. That coach who wanted him to be more physical…Dobson is not physical. IMO Dobson is a Markov with a longer reach and a harder shot. … If he played with Ghulie it would be SICK.
