After a dominant win over the Jets on Saturday, fans were left wondering where that Oilers’ team went after two terrible periods against the Sabres on Tuesday. And the Jets only have five wins to show for over their last 17 games. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait with special guest host Glenn Schiller to take a closer look at Edmonton’s struggles with consistency and discuss what’s hurting the Jets most over this skid

Inconsistent D, goaltending and depth scoring. Only a select few show up consistently.
Life aint perfect button. If you've watched hockey or played before you know good teams have off periods. Contenders are up and down. The whole expectation play a full 60 doesnt is near impossible and unrealistic. Teams that win have adversity, but Canadian teams get this media descension is going too far
BECAUSE THE GOALTENDING SUCKS.. STU SKINNER IS HORRIBLE.. PICKARD IS EVEN WORSE.. THEY ARE BECOMING BOTTOM FEEDERS
Avs lost and Vegas lost too but whatever keeps your views up I guess
Craig button eats corn the long way
Their fans are happy just making the playoffs. Since they are playing so lousy
Oilers can't win and have good streaks because they got Stuart Skinner in net. Every time McDavid pulls a miracle visually that's in a soft one. Every single time. He can't save or bail out the team for the life of him when it matters the most. In game 7 of the finals, Los Angeles playoff game one McDavid ties it up and then he lets in a softy and of course last night. This goalie needs to go and I seriously mean it. At least before the playoffs this year.
TSN needs to raise the volume on their videos, they're always way quieter than most videos on YouTube. Love the content though!
Bouchard was horrible on that second Sabres goal and abysmal on the OT goal. And his help, Draisaitl and McDavid, were a joke on that backcheck. Just left a guy alone on the wall, not touched by Leon, Connor, or Evan and the Sabre makes a great spin move and passes right by an Evan Bouchard who is turning his head away from the play for some reason. The Oilers can't keep playing run-and-gun like this. Their goaltending and defense sucks! Play well in your zone and it will lead to chances with the firepower they have. They need a whole new philosophy.
Management, Trainer, very weak. Goaltending, horrible. And the occasional Bouch-blackouts. All starts though with management not seeing and addressing the weakpoints, starting with a 'soft' trainer!
i rarely agree with Button, but this time he nails it on the head. Even though I hear repeatedly from McDrai about 'the character in this team', that is exactly what the Oilers are missing: 'character players', which neither one of the top leaders are! They ALWAYS disrespect the weaker opponents, and CHEAT THE GAME OF HOCKEY! And that comes from an Oiler, I do not hate the oilers, I LOVE McDavid and Draisaitl, but the way they play 'cute' in many games, shows a lack of respect for the game, for the league!
Bouchard really needs to be moved to forward rw, removed from defenseman permanently .
Offensive playing is commendable , defensive playing is horribly abismal . the solution is so obvious .
keep him away from the net , put him forward — PROBLEMS SOLVED — NO MORE EXCUSES
Lack of defense is a good start and poor neutral zone checking. Goalies don’t give up rush chances and neutral zone gaffes.
