They need more than this, though. They need a separate team president who can 1) isolate the GM from Pegula's unhelpful suggestions 2) convince Pegula to invest, not just in player personnel but in scouting (so they can evaluate talent beyond the lottery picks) and facilities (make Buffalo a place where people actually want to play). GM Jarmo won't succeed if Pegula continues to have a say in hockey ops without any basic knowledge of how a franchise is run.
They have to break the culture of losing and failure in Buffalo.
There's talent on the team there, and fans there.
Kevyn Adams was awful from day one. He should have convinced Pegula and Pegula’s moronic team doctor to back up Jack Eichel and Eichel’s family on the surgery they wanted to have. Instead, Adams traded Eichel to Vegas. Later he refused to pay Sam Reinhardt a reasonable second contract and shipped him off to Florida. Later he DID pay Dylan Cozens, but still traded him off to the Senators anyway. You simply cannot make this stupidity up! Add up all the draft picks and players Adams received in those trades and it has equaled 5 more consecutive playoff-less seasons for his Sabres, and THREE Stanley Cups for the teams that he traded with. I challenge any fan of any team on this podcast to find any GM that has done a worse job in 5 1/2 years. At least he’s gone and now he can go down to Florida and maybe get a job watering either the Panthers or Lightning’s plants around their arenas.

People have misguided their hate on the wrong guy. KA made a few really good moves I think. It’s the Pegula guy that screwed up this team 14 yrs. With his hands tied over his 5 yrs as gm I just don’t see how people can be happy. Mark my words. It’s going to be another 14 yrs. They will obviously sell the team soon.
