this isn't about the leafs not having time to wait for his development. it's about them being so close to the cap that they cant even keep a 23 man roster and are juggling players and losing them to waivers.
I can tell you that once a Winnipeger, makes the NHL, then gets a chance to play on one of the original six, like Toronto, he is playing his ass off to say on that team!… When another team from the great six, picks him up on wavers, that says something about the player, like he has what it takes to be playing at that level of hockey!!! GOOD LUCK Adam, you deserve it!!!
Like the bigger body of Amadio but i am a little worried that Brooks is going to come back and bite us in the ass. If you have followed his hockey carrer it has taken Brooks a few years at every level to get it. Then its like a light swith is flicked on and a rocketship is strapped to his back. Look at his junior carrer. He went from a nothing player to being captain and throwing up a guady 130 pts in his fourth year. Same with the AHL. He would have been thier first line centre for sure. Maybe a 50-60 pt guy this year
This is a regrettable choice by the Leafs. Just a gut feeling that Brooks will thrive in Montreal, as do most players who get unceremoniously booted out of Toronto for nothing in return.
Gonna call it just another bone head move by the leafs something they are use to doing the reason why leafs just keep rebuilding and not much has changed.

Poor Brooks, we feel for you buddy…from the penthouse to the outhouse…sad indeed….hopefully you get to play and get traded to a real team asap.

Said numerous times trade Keerfoot for anything and 3.5 mil in cap space to be able to carry a full 23 man roster and bank cap space.
In 2 years Matthews has a no trade clause and in three years he will leave with no compensation.
