The Edmonton Oilers are a few puzzle pieces away from gaining elite form! In this edition of Dolynny TV, find out what I believe needs to happen now that the Oilers have traded for Tristan Jarry, and gained the first win with him in net.

Pickard will have it tough tonight against the Habs, they are fast and have lots of young skill, but both teams are on the back end of a travel back to back. Not sure which would be worse, MSG to JFK or Downtown Toronto to Pearson, both got in very late last night.
Ingram hasn't been looking good in Bakersfield, calling him up isn't really an option unless you are into throwing him to the wolves and let him live or die.
I believe that Pickard will play better if the team can play better in front of him. We do have 2 players right now out with injuries . These two player will be huge for the Oilers to get back for more secondary scoring. Calm down, let’s see how this eastern road trip pans out then re-examine where we are at. We do not want to jump and make dumb decisions because we panicked too soon. After Christmas is when we will really see where this team is. So relax
I’m hoping Jarry can make the key /timely saves we need like a Grant fuhr type
Jarry doesn't look any better than Skinner
I’ve always routed for skinner, and was sad to see him go. I hope Jarry proves the critics wrong, because even if it is lateral we still needed something to change.
If you listen to the post game interviews with the players, they all sound pretty happy and pretty positive about this change. I know they all say Skinner was a nice guy and well liked, but I never heard anyone of them say that he was a great goaltender and will be missed. So maybe this is going over a little better with the team than I had imagined it might.
Im gonna say the first toronto goal on Jarry, was result of Bouchard spectating. Goaltender did his job, Bouch did NOT!
The decade of darkness never ended for the Oilers in terms of goaltending. Oil country is 6 tiers of darkness beyond being desperate for great goaltending
I miss skinner baby
There is a good chance Pickard won't be the backup come the spring. Ingram will get a look in the new year and he knows he will likely get just one shot this season. Motivation is a powerful thing.
I'm rooting for Jarry. I just still scratch my head thinking that marginally increased goaltending is more important than having our star players getting going and playing some two way hockey. Secondary scoring was non existent for long stretches this season too. Finally, Bouchard needs to figure what it takes to win. Skinner was a scape goat
That's why I was and am pissed. Let's get the win tonight. Go oil
It was also good to every player got a shot on net
If this trade doesnt work out with skinner we will afto call up grant fuhr out of retirement
It's to early to see if the trade was worth it or not. I saw some things I didn't like some things I did like. That 2nd goal I think Stu would have saved but there was moments where I think Stuart would have let in like that partial breakaway. We will see
Why in the wide world would the “players” advocate to keep Pickard over Skinner? If that is the case they should have no say in the situation.
I haven't heard much talk, since the trade, about Jarry's ability to handle the puck. He has the ability to pass the puck up to an open winger to take advantage of a bad line change by the opposition. He did this in the last game he played for Pittsburgh.
(Btw, he has scored an empty net goal for the Penguins)
He should be able to take some pressure off the defensemen when the puck is dumped into our zone, similar to the way Mike Smith used to help the D. This was an advantage for the Oil when Smith was in between the pipes and playing well.
this is not a lateral move, its an upgrade. based on stats and what we saw against toronto jarry is certainly the better goalie than skinner. his ability to save in key moments and not be doing odd stuff is great, and if the oilers get that they will have found their goalie
FIRST GOAL JARRY GIVES UP…..Please Note what Number 2 is doing……FRONT OF THE NET???….NOTHING….ZIP….ZILCH…..NADA….Welcome to Edmonton Tristan. Get used to it. The single BIGGEST and BEST "Goalie Upgrade" Oilers could possibly make is to make Bouchard a Winger or TRADE HIM….They refuse to fix their biggest defensive liability. …"There is no Magic sauce."….Indeed……Pickard is 6–2 last playoffs. Jarry is 2–6 Career.
For a guy to get on a plane and start on a team that he’s never played before I think jarry looked very smooth and confident
Too bad about Jarry's late 3rd goal. Turns his stats sour. Hopefully we can go on a run.
He has to be on his toes when nurse and bouchard are defending.
