San Jose Sharks shock the Pittsburgh Penguins with a dramatic 6-5 overtime comeback, fueled by Macklin Celebrini’s star power. Can the “Never Say Die” Sharks keep building on these improbable wins with Celebrini at the helm—and is it time to hand him the captain’s C?
JD Young recaps the wild victory, breaking down Celebrini’s head-to-head against Sidney Crosby, John Klingberg’s resurgence, and the impact of Will Smith’s concerning injury. Key talking points include defensive lapses—especially Nick Leddy’s struggles—the importance of top-six AHL reinforcements like Igor Chernyshov and Quentin Musty, and whether the Sharks’ relentless resilience can translate against the Calgary Flames. Don’t miss analysis of lineup challenges, evolving leadership, and what this comeback means for San Jose’s season.

🦈Just Celebrini doing Celebrini things🎉
Sharks are definitely wishing they had Misa right about now
GO SHARKS!🦈🦈
Celebrini trying his hand at Howe Cosplay.
OH KLINGBERG!!!!!!
The vengeance that Macklin had for that hit to Will was so cool to watch. They pissed him right off to literally carry the team to a MASSIVE win 👏👏👏👏
so you're saying there's a chance lol… we gotta crush some teams at home / go full o-zone press and get our goal diff in order
Never mess with smitty or sharkie
We got Mad Mack tonight. Mad Mack is unstoppable
Did anyone else think that hit on Will Smith was lightweight interference?
Which A do you strip to give Celebrini the C? (they have 3 other As for road games, which was an insane decision for exactly this reason)
What an insane game. Anyone doubting Macklin’s ability to wear the C next year going into this game just sat back down.
Also fun fact, while this was the biggest third period comeback in Sharks history, it actually wasn’t the fastest 4 goal comeback. That honor goes to the legendary 23-24 sharks where they let 4 in to Detroit in the second then proceeded to rattle 4 back in 10:28.
Which Dman that Oilers 1st round pick could bring at the deadline? Maybe pack it with the Sharks own 1st round pick and go for a star?
Celebrini for CAPTAIN!
Super excited to see more Giles & Ostapchuk instead of musty or Igor…
Unfortunately Leddy is just not an NHL defenseman anymore and it's baffling why he's still getting in the lineup. I hope this doesn't become a long-term issue with Grier where he is reluctant to give up on a player that he signs or drafts (Wilson had that problem and it was a key cause of their collapse). Gotta know when to fold 'em.
Amazing comeback!
Of course Klingberg, Celebrini, Toffoli etc. just wow
Just want to point out that Eklund played a really great game and Wennberg in front of the net is just incredible. He may not get a point often but he is always the one in front of the net making sure the goalie see nothing.
Also, can we not play Leddy ever again please.
