lets see 3 goalies left out to dry..montreal has to do something fast with it defensive system as it is not working
Wow seriously and when is the coaching going to be held accountable. And the stats card is very inaccurate.
Listening to another podcast after Fowler's first win, I tried to tell tjhem to simmer down, Pain is coming, anyone, ANYONE can beat the Pens and look like All Stars. Fans need to be better. #gohabsgo
Presented horizontally:)
D zone coverage is terrible, that’s on the coach
Take the point rest for Sunday
Hello I said at the beginning. Montreal Canadians have No Goalie also our Defense is Pure Shit.
By the way DemiGod has 24 points. Not his problem.
Can't clear their own zone – passing the puck to the Rangers and giving the Rangers a short ice surface to work with. Learn to make a pass to your own player not the opponent.
They were out coached
I blame hughes and gorton… when we lost savard dvorak armia they did nothing to replace the veterans. They put all their eggs in guhle and dach basket hoping they stay healthy.. and it backfired grabbed a declining dobson cheapish and paid him a handsome bounty without doing research cuz had they did their homework they would have realized that dobson played with one of the best shutdown dman in pullock. So it inflated his defensive numbers.
The defensive scheme in theory should work well but the talent isnt there to execute. You need strength speed stamina and exceptional focus….when you lack anyone of those components, the system breaks down and gives up a ton of A+ chances…point blank chances
We have had a busy schedule this year w minimal time to practice it seems. I feel like the Zebras are making shit calls on a nightly basis that hand cuffs us. We tinker w our lines a lot. Our 2 main goalies can't get their shit together. We let in a goal on the first shot of the game which infuriates me to no end. Too many undisciplined penalties…… I strongly believe in this team w a few tweaks to the roster in the next couple yrs. In the meantime, I hope everyone on the team has a great xmas holiday and comes back w straight heads on their shoulders. We all want to see these boys in the Playoffs this year and for many more to come. I believe one way or another, these bad moments will teach these boys how to rise above all and any bullshit. GO HABS GO Keep up the good work J and J
The guys are passing way too much, shoot the friggin puck boys,,,shoot the puck.
This team is weak. Not much you can do with players without significant trades. Maybe MSL isn’t the guy.
Fowler got run over yesterday, no defender hit back. Tired of getting bullied.
No mystery why the Habs lose. You can't win if you don't score. There are 14 players on the Habs with a combined 8 goals in 200 games. I'm sorry that just doesn't cut it. We need two more 30+ a season goal scorers -minimum.
If we're one of the teams with the most GA in the LEague, it's not just about the goalies. Since Guhle's injured, we've got a big hole in the back, one that Struble certainly cannot patch. We obviously need big help in the D zone, could be from a good veteran 2nd line C too even though Kapanen's playing great.
A guy like Trouba was available for not that much. The Habs have failed to compliment theur roster with tough guys, especially at least one defenseman, who can move people from in front of the net. If the FO doesn't change their way of thinking, the rebuild will just produce a team that will be top middle-of-the-pack, that will get blown away whenever the playing gets rough, especially in the series.
The Hughes, MSL and Matheson buddy system needs to end.
Lucky to get a point is right .We were out classed even with Rags playing a poor game .Habs get leads but need a big veteran defender to stabilize the back end and the team .Doby is not doing it ….With all our picks and prospects HuGo should get a big grizzly quickly to help our goalies …Otherwise Habs are fine in a tight playoff race this year …
Habs stink in D, so softeveryone happy with Matheson signing… They have like 4 soft D man, what's the point? They need Guhle and a Savard time

"Officiating in the NHL in 2025 is widely viewed as poor and, more specifically, highly inconsistent, but it is not universally agreed to be worse in an absolute, measurable sense than past years. The dominant theme this season is frustration over judgment calls and video review, rather than evidence of systematic bias or corruption.
What people are mad about
Across the 2024–25 regular season and into the 2025 playoffs, players, coaches, media, and fans have repeatedly criticized officials for inconsistency on key calls such as goalie interference, hand passes, and high sticks. High‑profile missed or controversial calls have directly affected game outcomes, fueling a perception that the referees are “taking over games” or deciding results.
Coaches have gone public unusually often this season. Montreal’s Martin St. Louis and Buffalo’s Lindy Ruff, among others, have explicitly questioned how games are being called and whether there is any league‑wide consistency from night to night. Several incidents have also involved on‑ice officials having to correct or explain confusing video‑review announcements, which adds to the sense of disorganization.
Key problem areas
– Hand‑pass rulings and reviews, which multiple coaches say are being called differently from game to game despite similar plays.
– Goaltender interference and crease contact, where controversial goals have stood or been overturned in ways that many players and analysts find hard to reconcile with the rulebook.
– Missed or downgraded penalties in critical moments of the 2025 playoffs and regular season (e.g., non‑calls on sticks to the face, late penalties that swing momentum), which have drawn specific public criticism from teams like the Avalanche, Canadiens, and Rangers.
Broader trend vs. 2025 spike
Complaints that “officiating gets worse every year” long predate 2025, but there is a sense this season that the gap between the speed of the game and the current officiating system has widened. One media analysis pointed to large shifts in penalty rates over just a couple of seasons as evidence that the league is not consistently enforcing its own standard, supporting the idea that the real problem is inconsistency rather than competence in a vacuum.
Fan sentiment online reflects this: many argue that game management and “even‑up” calls are undermining integrity, while others acknowledge that mistakes are inevitable but believe the league needs clearer standards and more transparent review processes. Overall, 2025 stands out not because blown calls suddenly appeared, but because the accumulation of high‑leverage controversies has pushed frustration with NHL officiating into a league‑wide talking point."
Fire MSL trade Suzuki and Caufield and slaf and Demidov and Hutson rebuild has failed. Trade Fowler too.
I've been saying this for long, it's not goalie issue it's the defense. For example, Hutson needs to improve in his defense, his eyes are so focused on the puck, his head should be always up covering surrounding.
There are so many wrong with Habs defense, need to fire all def coach and retire ones.
Nothing wrong with the defence, go back and watch it again….i did, New York had 2 pp goals and 1 penalty shot goal, the other goals were on Fowler….you guys gotta watch the game, and leave those advanced stats alone…..
Matheson is painful to watch. The longer the game goes… the worse he gets. The more games in a stretch – the worse gets. He's either out of shape, or he gets mentally exhausted. This one was not on Fowler.
Ads now , not a fan of that sorry
Honeymoon phase with management and coach is over. Patience was needed when the struggles began after the hot start. Yes injuries have played a factor but to many roster moves have been out of desperation due to newly inflated expectations. A plan was in place for certain players to prioritize development no matter the struggles of the big club. Panic sets in when losing and fans are angry. Plan gets abandoned and players are brought up to soon ruining development. Focus should return to rebuild/development/drafting low as possible as it is obvious many pieces are still missing. This team is also very mentally/physically weak. Same guys always injured and now guys crying. It’s sad the Habs have lost what little identity they had/built and became an embarrassment the last few weeks.
I agree with the firing of MSL. Some coaches are not capable of taking a team to the next level. Marty has completely mistreated Dobes, he has ruined his confidence. Plus his loyalty to players who are not perfomring is maddening! I hope they can right the ship soon, but with MSL I just don't see it happening.
