  1. The Leafs under GM Dumb Tree is rapidly descending into chaos. It was extraordinarily shortsighted of him to trade away two first-round picks for supporting players last March, especially knowing that Mitch Marner was leaving. The priority should have been to preserve those picks to find a replacement for Mitch, not expend them on a fourth defenseman and a fourth-line center. The focus was misguided, and he should have faced termination of his contract at that point. Keith Pelley, who granted him the reins to the team, must also bear the responsibility.

Given Dumb Tree track record in Calgary, it should come as no surprise that the Leafs are struggling and being one of the worst team in the East Although Dumb Tree will surely make numerous calls, he has repeatedly failed to secure any significant trades for impactful players, resorting instead to inconsequential deals. With Matthews carrying an injury body for a considerable time, surrendering two first-round picks last March was a reckless decision. Pushing the "all-in" button at that moment when your top centre was extremely injured was an unforgivable error.

To make matters worse, 88 appears to be out of shape and lacking fitness this season.Has Tree been monitoring the players’ conditioning? It's evident that Matthews has not maintained his physical form. Additionally, defenseman 44, one of the highest-paid D in the league, has proven to be a misstep. Engaging in discussions with him during the offseason will not change the fact that he is past his prime. The appropriate course of action would have been to buy him out and move on.

Re-signing player 91 is a decent move, but it’s not a game-changer, especially considering he is already 35 years old and cannot be relied upon to uplift the team. Tree should clearly understand the extent of player 34’s injury; how then can he justify focusing his efforts on bolstering the bottom six while the first-line center continues to deliver average offensive output especially the departure of the 102-point player should he find a top 6 first.

Tree has fundamentally disrupted the team's game plan, and his assumptions are entirely misguided. We will boycott the Leafs until Keith Pelley dismisses Dumb Tree

  2. I'm almost ready to trade both of them, Willy and Austin, and rebuild the team now on the fly. This is getting gross.

  3. These guys make it hard to be a fan. Just feel so gutted most of the time watching these guys play. It's not the fact that they lose buts its how they lose. Fold up shop and give up when the going gets tough, just like game 7 last year against Florida, brutal.

  4. Crosby is a combined -37 in his last 145 games played and pretty much just cheats for offence at this point of his career. Just look at his defence on the OT winner against the Sharks.

  5. 20,000 marks!!! Lmao nail on the head. I’m a leafs fan btw. This season has been a dumpster fire riddled with injuries.

  6. I would honestly be okay with trading Nylander. His nonchalant "coolness" and "not a big deal"… the way he meanders back to the bench on line changes…. it's infectious. AM hasn't been the same since Jamie Benn tried cutting him in half… I wish every player played with half as much heart as Laughton who's been here a hot minute. The majority of the talent on this team just doesn't give a sh!t. God I miss Wendal Clarke.
Yes, that was a ramble of thoughts… but man this team does my head in.

  7. I think you're right about them having to stop being afraid of emotion. Emotion is what drives us. As a Sharks fan, I can point to that Sharks game yesterday: they were still down 5-1 in the third. Then Wotherspoon checked Will Smith into the boards and hurt him, Smith left the ice cradling his arm, and Celebrini came flying across the ice to throw hands with Wotherspoon (Eklund was the first to go after him, true, but the only reason he got to Wotherspoon first was because he was closer when it happened), took a double minor, came out of the box still steaming mad and propelled the rest of the team to that comeback and win, scoring one and assisting on two of the next five goals. First time I've really seen Mack go feral like that. But that comeback was 100% the result of pure, unchecked ANGER.

Somehow, the Leafs need to learn how to feel and then harness emotions like that.

  8. I am well aware I'm not a leafs fan. But i know I've commented this a few times on this channel but AM34 is not captain material and never was.

  9. Berube plays Matthews as a 2C because that's what he is now. Whatever issue he has changed his play style permanently. He's not that goal scorer anymore.

  10. I've said it many times I'll say it again! I said 3 years ago to trade Mathews. The passion and fun has seen to have died off since they lost to Montreal in the playoffs. Him and the team have been mentally scared of comebacks or losing the lead. It feels like there's a disconnect from Mathews that we get the lead everyone else can do the work.

Don't talk about the team playing there full 60min. We should talk about how much effort and playing they do with there own ice time. Mathews looked like he was there 40-50%of the time during the game.

You need a captain like Any Katchuk, , Marchand,Mc David, my god anyone who's willing to be physical.

Drop the Mitt's destroy people with check. You over 6'2 230lb

Mathews plays timmid he won't pull the team along or have the leverage to since he hasn't grown up and that it should just happened because he has the C. In Manners words were God's.

If the Hugh's trade has indicated anything to me and gives me a thought, Mathews looks like he's trying to get by untill his contract is done won't sign again and is just enjoying his time instead of putting the effort in.

Trade him now ! Bradddddddd. Shake up the team ! Do somthinggggggg! Braddddddddddddd

  11. You give Morgan a bit of crap for the game and no criticism for OEL who was also a -3 and 2 of his giveaways were directly involved into goals.

  12. I think there’s a genuine question starting about Matthew’s play. What do you do as the leafs if he goes and dominates the Olympics, looks like the 69 goal guy has the passion and the pop we have all been missing. If that happens and he returns and goes back to this defensive minded guy. I mean the dude got paid, he got the C what else does he need to get other than a cup, but it’s not out of question that some guys want money over anything else. What do you do.

  13. Dude, I just discovered your channel and it’s amazing hahaha I started watching hockey a while ago back in my home country after one of my coworkers studied abroad in Toronto and brought me some Maple Leafs stuff. Fast forward to now, I’m actually living in Toronto, so I really got into the team this season. Back in Brazil, I’m a die hard São Paulo FC fan (soccer team that's struggling through a while in the national league lol) , and there’s a guy named Rogério Barolo who does the same kind of post game analysis you do. His YT channel helps me stay connected to my club while I’m away, and finding your channel feels like the perfect parallel. This is exactly the kind of independent creator content I love to follow, real fan energy, real passion, not the usual traditional media bs. So yeah, thanks for doing what you do. Btw, you’re funny as hell 😂

PS: I’m going to my very first Leafs game next Tuesday vs the Blackhawks (hoping I bring some good luck, but let’s be real, that part’s on the players lol). Any tips for a first time at Scotiabank Arena?

  14. Matthews has been steadily declining EVERY year. EVERY year and not without the leafs best player MARNER it shows. Hes not that guy, sorry not sorry 🤷🏽‍♂️

  15. … as I said before Matthews is a good player but he does not have the necessary grit and mentality to became a great one, and The Leafs will never be campions with him as the team leader, star or captain …
