  1. Hughes packs his bags. Nobody wants to play in Vancouver. Funny because that's what Vancouver fans were saying about McDavid and it ends up that they were talking about themselves.

  2. Great breakdown fellas. You realpy outlined the key factors to why it made sense.

The issues I have always had with Stu was these:

    1. Not good with his stick. Ever seen him poke check? I havent.
    2. Not good with the puck. We have seen it. Does he have any move except throw the puck around the wall? It's the same every time he gets it.
    3. He holds pucks for in zone face offs too much. Move the puck Stu! A face off in your own zone is not a good thing. Did any coach ever tell him that? Seriously. Move the puck. Oh, right. He wasnt good at that.
    4. Relies too much on his size. He doesnt move side to side that well. How many times does he square up to a person from an angle and that d-man passes it by him for an easy tip or damn close to an easy goal cause he doesnt react side to side well?
    5. His competitiveness. Hard to gauge. Goalies are a wide range of characters. We have seen all styles win in the league. From crazy Roy types to level headed ones like Brodeur. I feel Skinner is too hard on himself. Questionable confidence. While some people think the way he shook off a bad game was a postive thing, I thought that he was never angry about his play. His compete level felt different. I want to see some passion. Heck, get mad at your defense if they arent doing their job. He never really sulked or complained like mike Smith could. But he wasnt aggressive when he needed to be I think either. Skinner let games get out of hand quickly.

6 and most important. And is the on ice performance against good teams. His record was horrible against playoff teams during rhe regular season. I would argue all day it was the defense who shut down teams like !Dallas in the playoffs. Bottom line: Skinner didnt steal games. Bobrovsky stole games and was player of the game. Even when skinner had a run of shutouts, I thought it was defense was great. It wasnt skinner being rhe difference maker. We could argue Pikard could have made a similar run maybe better last year.

    That's 2 cents on skinner.

Wish him the best. But Oilers tried with him.

  3. Rolling the dice, but I think, that the Oilers just might be snake bit, a much lesser, picture of Vancouver, wow, that’s horrendous!

  4. Hey, guys, excellent comments on the goaltender, fiasco, love to listen to you ,a old, old, old hockey guy from Chicago, stay warm, Merry Christmas,Canada is overdue for a cup, Let’s go!

  5. Bob is right on again . Good luck stu . If you liked Smith you will like Jarry only Jarry is more athletic .

  6. Sedin's were the best the Canucks ever had? were you born yesterday? Hughes was good…but better than PAVEL BURE…I don't think so, didn't Pavel has 5 seasons of 50 or more goals…that was pretty impressive for the greatest player to ever play for the canucks!

  7. This will change NOTHING…….no Oilers will show up for a Canada wide broadcast……can’t remember the last time we won one??

  8. Stewart skinner was pretty good you ought to cut 2 cups finals Tristan jarri hasn't even admitted one they're making a big gamble and hacking them in what if you've he he loses his nerve or doesn't hype up the way people want him to be and then we lose a big goalie as nab over the years back in the 90s It's never done that Calvin pickered okay I understand Calvin Pickett if they let him go for an eve but Stewart stewart's the backbone soon you'll let one piece false it's all going to crumble just you watch we're not going to make the playoffs McDavid drive out I understand they're good players but it takes a team to make it to the playoffs

  9. Yeah I don't see no making the playoffs for this all the payloads fall on Calvin Pickerd to carry them And then the players don't know what they're doing and it's not a waste of deer you're gonna go back one room we should never have done that they moved a lot of blue players off in the off-season which I got a ton of mad at

  10. Don't underestimate that Jarry is a great improvement on high risk shots, Stu was 50th in the NHL, Jarry is 8th. That's what the Oilers defensive system allows the most. According to data analytics and AI, that's 3 more wins for the Oilers.

  11. When the team is paying your salary, you agree with what the team does. Hard to be impartial, I get it. But 80% of hockey insiders don’t like this deal for the Oilers.

  12. Gawd I cant stand these guys with the beards. Gross, be a professional for christ sake. Cant take you seriously I'm out

  13. only 5 elite goalies in the NHL – hellebuyck, oettinger, shesterkin, vasilevskiy, sorokin

I would argue that thompson and swayman are also up there as well

  14. McDavid will demand a trade this summer. Jarry is a SIGNIFICANT downgrade. The problem this year was Pickard, not Skinner. The Oilers paid a gigantic price to make the team worse in goal AND on defense. And they gave up a draft pick.

    This team is a joke.

  15. Worst trade… The way this team and fanbase treated Stu all these years was horrid!!
Stu is finally free of this toxic af fanbase… And so am I!!!
Byeeee Oilers 👋 Oilers+ cancelled, and I spent the money I was saving for Oilers merch on Penguins merch instead!! 💛🖤 only gonna tune into Oilers for Picks' sake, since he's now the only guy I respect on this team anymore.

  16. Jack says "Dead even trade" for the 2 goalies. Then it was a massive overpay. Straight up would have been fine. Include Kulak to make the numbers work, fine. Why add a 2nd-round pick for an older, more expensive goalie with injury history?

  17. This dumbass said there's only 5 elite goalies in the league. 😂 Who you scouting for!? Not my TEAM…if I find you on the Employment List…Your FIRED. 🤲🏾🎁 👓 (Dallas Stars😎- An i wouldn't call Jake Oettinger Elite) Really good but ain't elite yet 🙂‍↔️

  18. Boy, Jarry didnt have a hard time getting to his new teams game and playing, but Kulak and Skinner couldnt make it to PIT?! Whats up with that?

  19. I like Skinner, but I'm not unhappy to have Jarry. Kulak leaving is a real loss of talent but I understand his cost is going to double after this year and Oilers can't afford him then.

    "… he's probably a little bit better, side-to-side…"
    Good one 🙂

    Oh, you were being serious?
Let me laugh some more! x'D

… no, really: among all the many flaws and technical shortcomings, that Skinner had, his entire lack of NHL AHL level lateral movement stood out the most!

  21. Brutal that we had to give up a second AND Kulak. I know it was looking increasingly unlikely that he’d re-sign but that’s a huge loss going into playoffs.

  22. 9:04
"… with all due respect to the Sedins, [I could make the argument, that], Quinn Huges is the best Player that team has ever had…"
    Pavel Bure says_"hello!"_

    Seriously:
    Wtf.?!?
    xD

… THG (!) made the statement, that Quinn was the best defenseman they ever had (he was visibly heartbroken, as a nucks-fan! … "Not even close", he said, on the aforementioned stament, iirc.)…
    … but…
to bring up the Sedins, [in order] to talk up Quinn to the expense of the twins is … wild, to say the least!
    — esp. in light of that "other guy", who may have been better than either one of them, individually (that russian dude)…

I like this show and respect this "Panel" (always a pleasure to listen to), alot, — esp. Bob Stauffer (!), but… wow!
    O.O
