  1. Perfetti’s last year’s point total was a direct result of playing with Ehlers. Perfetti was a terrible draft choice. Why didn’t they take Jarvis? Chevy blew this.

  2. Jets have no moose players to come up with all the older players taken up spots what happened it’s like the years when POM was here schein Pearson teows and Nyquist are all dudes

  3. You can't score goals if you can't gain the zone and no one does that better than Ehlers. I knew damn well that they were going to miss that.

  4. High ankle sprains even when healed take as much as a whole season to get threw. As he has said in interviews there is still pains and aches related to it.

  5. Perfetti, has had one decent season in the NHL. He has not shown he is a NHL player much less a top six player and really should be wearing antlers. It's four years now of not meeting modest expectations. I think we know now what Cole Perfetti is and what he Dan bring to the team. Personally I would much rather see Parker Ford in his spot

  6. The Jets picked Perfetti 10th during the 2020 NHL Draft although I thought they had picked him a bit lower than that. Through 16 non-preseason games from November (as he had not played a relevant October game), he has put up six points (two of them goals) with nonetheless a -11. IDK in how many situations he has played, in regulation, during which the Jets have played four-on-four or 3-on-3 although he hasn’t struggled this badly, in regular-season play, since his first NHL season (four seasons ago). In that earliest season, he put up, in regular-season play, seven points (two goals) over 18 games.

In postseason play, he has put up six points (three goals) over 14 games although the Jets, particularly given how badly they’ve been playing, may not qualify for that of 2026, making it real important to scrutinize his point production. I count, among games during which he went pointless from November to this Thursday Central Time, respective:
    – respective 4-1, 5-3, 3-0, 4-3, 5-1, 5-1, 3-2 (shootout) and 6-2 (away unless otherwise noted) losses to the Ducks, Kraken, MN Wild (home), Capitals, Canes, Sabres, Habs and Oilers
    – 5-2 and 4-1 wins over the Blue Jackets and Sabres, both at home

I also count, among games during which he scored or assisted on a goal, respective:
    – 4-3, 4-3 and 6-3 losses to the Canes, Dallas Stars and Bruins
    – 5-3, 4-3 and 5-2 wins over the Canucks, Flames (shootout) and Preds

In a nutshell the Jets, with Perfetti, from November, in the lineup, have a win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record of:
    – 3-3-0-0 when he’s scored or assisted on a goal, all such games having featured ≥3 goals scored
    – 2-7–0-1 when he’s neither scored nor assisted on a goal including, in games during which the Jets have scored ≤2 non-shootout goals, 0-5-0-1

Is Perfetti a bust?  One can debate whether he has been although his existing contract, which, in September 2024, he signed, and that would go into effect immediately, is his 2nd-ever NHL one.  The Jets gave him a qualifying offer at the end of his entry-level contract although, as had typically been the case with players signed to NHL entry-level contracts, he’d not had the opportunity to exercise arbitration rights were he to have received a qualifying offer.  His existing contract expires in June 2026, with the end of that month to feature the need for the Jets to decide, once again, should they not trade him before that contract of his expires, whether to extend him a qualifying offer.  Should he receive a QO, he will get to exercise arbitration rights if he wants to although should he not receive a QO, he will become an unrestricted free agent for the 1st time in his NHL career.

Last June only 2 players the Jets had had under contract didn’t receive QOs, with just 1 who hadn’t in June 2024.  The Jets, after they’ve played their last game of this season (whether regular-season or postseason), may have as little as a few days (if, somehow, they qualify for the 2026 Stanley Cup final and said final goes the distance) to decide whether or not to extend a QO to Perfetti although also will have to decide, again should they not trade any such player, whether to extend QOs to each of:
    – David Gustafsson, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Tyrel Bauer and Isaac Poulter no matter what, as none of them qualify to become UFAs unless they don’t receive QOs
    – Ville Heinola, should he play in 27 or more of the Jets’ remaining regular-season (52) and/or playoff (at least 4, should they qualify) games before the 2026 NHL Draft (barring which, as he’s played, in the last 3 NHL seasons, 10 or more relevant regular-season games, making him eligible to become a group 6 UFA as he’ll have turned 25 by June [such birthday scheduled for early-March 2026])
