10 years of no playoffs and he acts like he's untouchable. I would fire him at the end of the season if they don't make the playoffs. Teams can rebuild in 5ish years why is this taking this long? I also don't factor in what he did as a player to justify this mediocrity
It’s not the fact they lose and don’t make the playoffs it’s how Steve yzermans teams lose. Yzermans teams roll over and get literally Btch slapped (like team captain Larkin did) and they take it.
When Larkin got slapped across the face and not one wing went after Middleton for doing it, it showed me right there Yzermans teams lose after 6 years has no fight and no pride and you can’t win with those type of players on your team.
Rasmussen the biggest guy on the ice didn’t do a thing about the team captain getting slapped across the face and Yzerman resigned him so after 6 years of losing and STILL statistically the softest team to play in the league that’s in yzerman and the players he signs and drafts.

Carlos is'nt a smart guys and it shows.. Yzerman is immensely smarter and it shows too. I mean, it's enough for somebody with a solid Hockey knowledge to understand what this Red Wings team is going to become and what's the process, by what it had to get through.
A messy roster and Cap situation left by Holland, especially terrible contracts (Abdelkader, Ericsson, Nielsen…) only one top core player (Larkin) then no draft luck like 0 yes 0 top 3 picks to help. Best pick was 4 (Raymond).
Now given that, from 2019 to 2022 near to every 1st round picks actually play a really Big role in the Team except obviously Cossa which is'nt weird considering how usually develop goalies.
Yzerman said he's building this team through draft and developing and he's pretty doing just that. Not to mention few interesting and intriguing late round picks who are coming too (Mazur, Lombardi, Finnie and Buchelnikov).

It took 35 years before we were contenders. And 42 before we got lord Stanley back in Detroit. You forget Steve was there from 82 until our first cup in 97. We need to be patient.
6 of his round draft picks are on the team with the full 9 coming up next year…. hes fine.
It was the same with Jim Nill and the building of the 90’s Red Wings. It took years to build. Hockey is not as quick of a build as other sports.
Yzerman is doing a fantastic job. Only the ignorant fans can't see it. I love the elite young talent we are bringing in.
Steve’s response is exactly what I needed to hear as a fan. There is still a bit of exasperation about not making the playoffs and that the “progress” is visible but so slow. I have not been vocal about these things, not my style, but I know fans that are getting worked up about it.
Watch in 5 years when we're winning the Atlantic year over year; All the same dipshits will come out of the woodworks calling him a genius and saying they never lost faith in his plan. I cannot wait for that day to watch people hop on the metaphorical wagon. I especially can't wait for the clowns over at TSN to eat their words 😂 All while we're sweeping the Maple Leafs in the first round while they're on the ⬇️

I love Steve; however, enough excuses. Multiple other teams have been in the same or worse position, rebuilt, and actually made the playoffs in a much shorter time frame, so it's proven that you don't need a decade of missing the playoffs entirely to just get in. They should be good enough at this point to compete for a cup again, not standing on the outside a decade later.

I don’t understand how people don’t see how great he has been doing, look at our team. We have a strong core that’ll be around for a while in Larkin Raymond and Seider with great young talent coming up like Finnie Danielson JBD ASP Mazur. Two of our prospects are currently dominating the NCAA with Plante and Augustine-who btw is one of 3 amazing Goalie prospects. I honestly couldn’t care any less about making the playoffs this year or not because I know for a fact this teams future is incredibly bright. Steve Yzerman understands the game of hockey better than 99 percent of the people on this planet and has a team around him of other former wings helping. LGRW and god bless Stevie Y
